Abstract

The active substance of CM lotion inhibits prostaglandins and other inflammatory mediators. Therefore it can remove the inflammation and pain. The active substance of this lotion contains 50% of celery essence (Apium Graveolens) from the family of Umbeliferae and 50% of mint essence (Mentha Spicata) from the family of Labiatae.In this study 24 mice were selected and divided into two groups of experimental group (case group, n=12) and control group (n=12). We used Tail-flick (T.F.L.) method for determining the analgesic effects of the lotion. With the intensity of 40, we applied 1 ml of CM lotion on the tail of every mice of the experimental group. 30 minutes later the mice put in T.F.L machine and the apparatus registered the pain endurance time for each mouse. The average time was 5.35 seconds for experimental group and 3.2 seconds for the control group.This study showed that the CM lotion may increase the pain endurance mean time (p<0.05).
