Abstract

 INTRODUCTION: THE INTRAMOLECULAR HYDROGEN BONDS (IHB) PLAY A SIGNIFICANT ROLE IN BIOLOGICAL PHENOMENA, CHEMICAL REACTIONS, CRYSTALLINE FORMS FORMATION, ETC. AN INCREASING INTEREST IN INTRAMOLECULAR HYDROGEN BONDS HAS BEEN MADE IN RECENT YEARS, THEORETICALLY, AND EXPERIMENTALLY.THE PURPOSE OF THIS PAPER IS TO CONSIDER THE NATURE OF IHB INTERACTIONS IN SALICYLALDEHYDE (SA), 5-FLUOROSALICYLALDEHYDE (5FSA), 5-CHLOROSALICYLALDEHYDE (5CLSA) AND 5-BROMOSALICYLALDEHYDE (5BRSA) MOLECULES (FIG.1) BY APPLYING QUANTUM CHEMICAL TECHNIQUES.
