Abstract

 OVER THE PAST FEW DECADES, THE CRYSTAL ENGINEERING OF COORDINATION POLYMERS HAS BEEN STUDIED EXTENSIVELY DUE TO THEIR FASCINATING TOPOLOGIES AND POTENTIAL APPLICATION IN DIFFERENT AREAS OF SCIENCE [1]. FROM THE VIEWPOINT OF CRYSTAL ENGINEERING, THE INFLUENCE OF MOLAR-RATIO OF ORGANIC AND METAL TECTON [2] AND SOLVENT SYSTEM [3] ARE AMONG IMPORTANT STRUCTURE-DIRECTING FACTORS. THEREFORE, WE HAVE FOCUSED OUR ATTENTION TO THE EFFECT OF DIFFERENT MOLAR-RATIO OF ORGANIC AND METAL TECTON AND ALSO DIFFERENT SOLVENT SYSTEM ON THE TOPOLOGY OF CADMIUM (II) COORDINATION POLYMERS IN THE SELF-ASSEMBLY PROCESS WITH BRIDGING PYRIDINE SCHIFF-BASE LIGAND (L).IN THIS REGARD, WE OBTAINED THREE TOPOLOGICALLY DIFFERENT COORDINATION POLYMERS: [CD2(M-L)3(NO3)4. CH3OH]N (1), [{CD4(M-L)5(NO3)8}{CD3(M-L)3(NO3)6(H2O)2}{L}]N (2), [CD(M-L)( M- NO3)2(C8H10)0.5]N (3) (FIG. 1). WHEN SELF-ASSEMBLY PROCESS OCCURRED IN METHANOL SOLVENT, TWO COORDINATION POLYMERS WITH DIFFERENT TOPOLOGY HAVE BEEN RESULTED BY VARYING MOLAR-RATIO OF ORGANIC AND METAL TECTON. IN COMPOUND (1), INTERPENETRATED 2D STRUCTURAL MOTIF AND IN COMPOUND (2), 3D INTERCALATED STRUCTURE WAS OBTAINED. WHEN WE CHOOSE THE SAME MOLAR-RATIO AS COMPOUND (1) AND MIXTURE OF METHANOL AND O-XYLENE AS SOLVENT SYSTEM, 2D RHOMBIC GRID IN COMPOUND (3) WAS CONSTRUCTED.
