Abstract

Introduction: Sexual problems affect different aspects of women's lives. It seems that counseling at an early stage can solve many of their problems. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of counseling on SEXUAL FUNCTION.Methods: This study was a randomized clinical trial on women referred to health centers of Hamadan, conducted in 2015, at the return time (four weeks to three months after DELIVERY). Sixty patients were randomly divided into two groups. The intervention group received four sessions. To gather the data, FSFI (Female SEXUAL FUNCTION Index) was used, which was given to the patients on the first visit, as well as five weeks later. Scores of SEXUAL FUNCTION were measured before and after the intervention. In two parts, descriptive and inferential data were analyzed using SPSS software, paired t-test and independent t-test.Results: Patients in the intervention and control groups were matched in terms of demographic changes (P<0.05); there was no difference between the intervention and control groups. The mean scores of SEXUAL FUNCTION in the interventional group had a meaningful difference before (40.07) and after (61.47) the intervention (P<0.01), but in the control group there was no significant difference between time zero (28.53) and after one month (34.37), which represented the effective role of advisers in improving SEXUAL FUNCTION.Conclusions: According to the results, it seems that counseling postpartum women can improve their sexual performance.
