Abstract

Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases are the main cause of death and disability. Prevention and management programs of these diseases have a basic role in the control of these diseases. This study aimed to determine the effect of health-related lifestyle self-management intervention on HEALTH PROMOTION behaviors in patients with ISCHEMIC HEART DISEASE.Methods: This clinical trial was performed on 92 patients with accessible sampling. Data were collected via demographic and HEALTH PROMOTION behavior questionnaires. The intervention group took part in the self-management lifestyle program and the control group had regular training. Data analysis was done by descriptive statistics and Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, chi-square, independent sample t-test and paired sample t-test using the SPSS software version 16.Results: Results showed significant statistical difference between mean scores of HEALTH PROMOTION behaviors in both groups (P<0.05), yet after the intervention in four areas of health responsibility, physical activity, interpersonal relation and nutrition, a significant difference was observed (P=0.0001). Results also showed a significant difference (P= 0.0001) in both groups in all aspects except stress management (P=0.067) before and after the intervention.Conclusions: The results showed that the program was effective on HEALTH PROMOTION behaviors of patients with heart disease and appropriate intervention strategies could be utilized to improve the health of patients.
