Abstract

 Objective: Holdings play a key role in the economy of any country and pursue two goals, creating more value than independent businesses and competing holdings. This study is to design a generic and process-oriented model to improve the integration and the effectiveness of the complex, ambiguous, and multidimensional process of formation and management of holdings in Iran. Method: This research is developmental in terms of purpose and exploratory in terms of nature. The method of data collection in the first step was the library method (review of theoretical literature and the background of related research). In the second stage, the dimensions and components of the proposed model of formation and management of holdings were identified and the logical steps of this model were configured. After the theoretical approval of the proposed model by scholars, in the third stage, using the field method and interview with 30 experts in the university and the company, the holding structure of Kish Investment and Development Company was designed and approved based on the above-proposed model. Results: The findings are the identification of dimensions, components, and generic process-oriented model for the formation and management of holdings and its application to structuring the Kish Investment and Development Company. Conclusions: Considering the importance and prominent role of holdings in the Iranian economy and the results of the case study, it can be concluded that the utilization of the proposed model can improve the harmony and the effectiveness of the formation and management of holdings in Iran.
