Abstract

Many words in the Holy Qur’an are used with DEFINITIVE AL and therefore it is of great importance to identify various forms of AL to have a correct understanding of the Quranic verses. Since the perception of translators and interpreters of AL type in the Holy Qur’an has an obvious impact on understanding and translating divine verses, the present paper reviews various types of DEFINITIVE AL from the views of researchers of conjugation, syntax and rhetoric. The impact of DEFINITIVE AL type and the perception of translators and interpreters of that type were examined through citing some verses of the Holy Qur'an and it proved to be one of the reasons why for some Quranic verses there exist more than one translation.
