Abstract

Flowcytometery is an efficient technique in cytology that is capable of simultaneously measuring and analyzing multiple physical properties such as Size and Granularity of a single Cell or any other soluble particle. In addition, the efficiency of this technique depends on the light scattered features of Fluorescence dyes or conjugated monoclonal antibody fluorescence that bind to the target molecule on surface or inside the Cell. The Flowcytometer components, including fluidics system, optics (laser and filters), signal processor, software and electrostatic Cell sorting, together provide a powerful tool for accurate analysis of complex Cell populations in a short time. Since this technique is widely used in various fields such as medical diagnosis, immunology, pathology, molecular biology, plant science, microbiology, etc., it is important to understand the components and function of flow cytometry.
