Abstract

This study is intended to investigate the history of translation in the Iran of the time of Mughal invasions up to the collapse of the TIMURIDS. Applying Holmes DTS model for researching the history of translation, this study covers 295 years of the history of Ilkhanid and Timurid dominance and focuses on identifying translators, translated texts and translation strategies. In this regards, the first and second hand historical resources related to these periods were studied. The results showed that the situation of Iran at these time periods paved the way for the resurgence of two movements, i.e. Persian Writing Movement and Turkish Yeni Movement. Furthermore, rulers and literary figures were involved as the powers and patrons of these periods. Finally, it is concluded that the periods under investigation can be marked as the second era of TRANSLATION MOVEMENT after the Abbasids.
