Role of Conscientiousness and Spiritual Health in the Adherence of Health Guidelines during Corona Pandemic

Abstract

 Objective: Conscientiousness and Spiritual Health are among the factors affecting the health of communities. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between Conscientiousness and Spiritual Health with Adherence of Health Guidelines during corona pandemic. Material and Methods: The method of the present study was descriptive cross-sectional correlation. The statistical population of the present study included all Iranians aged 15 to 64 years in 2021. 421 people were selected by the available sampling method. The instruments were Paloutzian & Ellison' Spiritual well-being (1982), Big Five Personality Questionnaire (2002), and a researcher-made Adherence of Health Guidelines Questionnaire. Then, the data were analyzed using SPSS. v16 software and Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise regression statistical tests. Results: The results of Pearson correlation coefficient test showed that there is a significant relationship between Conscientiousness (r = 0. 217, P = 0. 000) and Spiritual Health (r = 0. 266, P = 0. 000) with Adherence of Health Guidelines. The results of the regression analysis test also showed that Conscientiousness and Spiritual Health predict 9% of variable changes in Adherence of Health Guidelines. Conclusion: Since Conscientiousness and Spiritual Health can be taught it is recommended for health policymakers and public education providers to promote Adherence of Health Guidelines during corona pandemic, focus on these variables.
