A Systematic Review of Published Articles in Quarterly of Police Management Studies: A Five-Year Period from 2016 to 2020

Abstract

 Background and Aim: Systematic Review of journals helps their editors to get the necessary information about the weaknesses and strengths of the journal by being aware of the status of the journal. The purpose of this study is to systematically review the articles published in the Quarterly of Police Management Studies during the five-year period 2016-2020. Method: This study is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive in terms of method, which has been reviewed by this Journal with a Systematic Review approach. The statistical population of the study includes all articles published in the journal during the years 2016 to 2020 with 149 articles, all of which were selected as a statistical sample. Research data were collected using electronic versions of the journal and statistically analyzed using Excel software. Results: The data show that in the five years under review, 149 articles were published with the participation of 421 authors. In terms of gender, 94% of the authors are men and 6% are women. The highest frequency of article authors in terms of academic rank is related to assistant professors and the highest organizational frequency is from Amin Police University, Allameh Tabatabai and Islamic Azad University; articles outside the organization with 42% have the highest volume of published articles. The highest frequency of group participation of authors is related to two-authored articles with 45 and three-authored articles with 44 titles. 47% of the authors used quantitative research method and 32% used qualitative method. The highest frequency of references to Persian sources with 61% and English sources with 39% and the most important tool for data collection is a questionnaire. Conclusion: A Systematic Review of the Quarterly of Police Management Studies shows that this journal is in a relatively good position in the standard indicators of reviewing journals, but according to the new standards of the Ministry of Science, it should be strengthened in a number of indicators.
