Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to design a conceptual model of the antecedents and consequences of marital boredom and to determine the effectiveness of the training protocol derived from the model on improving marital boredom and intimacy. Materials and methods: The quasi-experimental research method was a single-subject design with multiple baselines and the statistical population was couples who referred to the consultation center of Raz Clinic in Shiraz and the clinic of the General Directorate of Exceptional Education of Fars Province in Shiraz in the fall of 1400. Using the purposeful sampling method, 3 couples were selected as a sample. The therapeutic program of the training protocol extracted from the conceptual model (1400) was implemented by the tutors and counselors during 10 sessions, and after the end of the treatment, the follow-up was done in two stages with intervals. It took place for one month. The subjects responded to the emotional intimacy subscale of Shaffer Valson's (1981) Personal Emotional Evaluation of Intimacy Questionnaire (1981) and Pines Marital Boredom Test (1). The data were analyzed by visual analysis method, recovery percentage formula and stable change index. Findings: The results showed that the treatment of the conceptual model protocol increased emotional intimacy and marital quality and reduced marital burnout of couples and this effect remained stable in the follow-up phase. Conclusion: The conceptual model protocol treatment has the required efficiency and couple therapists can use this conceptual model in working with couples in order to reduce marital boredom and increase emotional intimacy and improve marital quality, especially in the early years of a couple's marriage, which has a significant effect. to take
