Abstract: 

Presence of different people with variety of identities in society may cause to tension among them. Thus, it is necessary to explore them scientifically. Surveying ideas of 220 students of Social Science in University of Tehran and Allameh Tabatabaei University, the present study attempts to measure tolerance (social, political, and moral-behavioral) among them. Reviewing different typologies, “Voget’s division” was chosen as the principle framework. Results show that political tolerance is higher than the others. Furthermore, there is a meaningful difference in tolerance among bachelor student and MA ones: tolerance would increase as education increases. Although students in University of Tehran are more tolerant than Allameh Tabatabaei University, there is no meaningful difference among them.

Abstract: 

As various Iranian theorists emphasis, challenge between tradition and modernity is among the most affective phenomena on Iranian identity. Thus, in the present study, different dimensions of Student’s identity have been evaluated regarding this challenge. According to the main hypothesis, student’s identity is a hybrid of traditional and modern elements. Each dimension of identity (either modern or traditional) has been studied from the social, cultural, and political aspects. The study has been carried using questionnaire in 6 universities in Tehran –including University of Tehran, Shahid Beheshti, Allameh Tabatabaei, Sharif University of Technology, Al-Zahra, and University of Applied Science and Technology. Results show that in social and cultural aspects, modern elements of identity prevail, while in the political aspect it is the traditional elements that prevail. In another word, religion-politics blend and authoritarianism play crucial role in students’ identity rather than tendency to civil society. In addition, students’ identity is not simply a one-dimensional structure, but a bi-dimensional construction within which both modern and traditional elements are involved.

Abstract: 

The present study attempts to evaluate values and norms among students in the dormitories of University of Gilan in 1385-86. Eleven structures –including 10 independent variable and 1 (Anomy) for the dependant variable- has beencreated in order to recognize cited values and norms. The study is descriptive- analytical, using questionnaire and standard interview. Population includes all the students in dormitories of Gilan University (2917 person). In sampling 304 students were chosen. The questionnaire was self-created and its validity was verified through testing by experts. Reliability of achieved through Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient in pilot-study and avoiding some questions in every 11 structures to gain more than 70% in Alpha coefficient. Results show the average anomy in girl dormitory is 3.64. T-Test too shows a meaningful difference in Anomy between two dormitories. Even in boy’s dormitory which has a lesser anomy (2.76), it is near to 3. However, results show that social control mechanism (Punishment) in both dormitories is inefficient. In conclusion it could be said that there is a kind of social imbalance in both dormitories which should be considered in planning to encounter future possible social crises.

Abstract: 

Most of the current policy-making literature in scholar and executive institutions in industrial and technological fields explains Iran’s failure in industrialization process as the result of economic, organizational, and managerial factors. However, this approach itself is among the factors which hinder the technology-localization process. Explaining this problem, the present study attempts to explore some conceptual and theoretical issues to understand technology in a broad view –especially in cultural approach. In the theoretical part, the contradiction among technology-oriented and heritage-oriented cultures, innovative production and consumption of technology, cultural rooting and institutional independence of technology, and continuity of cultural heritage in the technological world are discussed; while in another part of the study the influence of two cultures contradiction–among them conflict between heritage and technological canons of culture, epistemological challenges among modern intellectuals, and the consumption edge of Iranian innovative culture of technology- on the pattern of technology’s production and consumption in Iran would be explored. In conclusion, as a result of cultural analysis of technology, some general strategies would be explored and further studies in different aspects is suggested in order to achieve an advanced meta-analysis and offering policies to promote national conduct in cultural policy-making and technological development.

Abstract: 

Dissimilarities among the reality and what is represented in media caused to efforts to explain how-ness and why-ness of what is called media representation of the world. Therefore, media representation has been on board in Cultural and Media Studies. Cultural Study presupposes that what should one focus on in exploring media texts are the underneath ideological and social elements, and their influence on the audience’s views. Hollywood, among other media productions, enjoys a distinguished, unique status in representing the world. The present study reviews “a discourse-within-a-discourse”. In the other words, Iran’s representation would be explored as a part of representing Orient (or Islam) in the western media. Here, Hollywood–as a media-within-mass-media- represents American Media in general. Reviewing movies produced in Hollywood within which Iran is represented, she is represented as the “subaltern other”. Thus, it could be said that Hollywood generally works in the “neo-racist” theoretical framework. In this study, 3 theoretical traditions; namely the Cultural Studies, Post-Colonial Studies, and Film Theory have been applied. The central “representation” concept in the present study is a combined derivation of Michel Foucault and Stewart Hall’s theories. Then, Edward Said’s ideas in Post-Colonial Studies would be explored. And finally, Film Theory would help to apply the concept of representation besides the Post-Colonial Studies in Film Studies.

Abstract: 

How could patterns of leisure represent social identity? Whether they are sub- ordinate to the class identity or in the contemporary context of consumption and the post-modern cultural transformations, they could represent some other different social identities based on the patterns of consumption? Considering “leisure time” as a part of “life style”, the present study attempts to explore social identity. There are two parts in methodology; first the qualitative one, carried through deep interview technique; and the other, surveying through questionnaire. Results distinguish the determining role “social class”, and the combination of “gender” and social class play in modeling distinctions in leisure patterns. In other words, leisure–as the arena for individual choice- is restricted to the social class and gender –as the structural and contextual variables. The strong correlation identity has with the social class and gender denies the post- modern interpretations which emphasis on consumption as the cause of social differentiations.

Abstract: 

First of all, the present study would explain 6-layer dimensions of culture –including beliefs, values, and norms (as the core of culture), and symbols, rituals, and customs, technologies, skills, and innovations (as the culture surface). Then, applying communication theories besides exploring the concept of “culture-building” involving culture-admission (affecting both core and surface of culture) and culture-orientation (affecting culture’s surface); it would analyze the cultural affects media has in thoughts, normalizing, symbolizing, socialization, modeling, and innovation. The assessed hypothesis emphasizes that in the core of culture, media play an educational and stabilizing rolein culture-admission process, while in the surface of culture –the culture- orientation process- they could transform behaviors and social models.

Abstract: 

The aim of the present study is to investigate the existence of probable relationship between the popular music consumption and aggressive, anti-social behaviors. we took the fact of the existence of some kind of anti-social aggression amongst the students interested in popular music, as the basis for the this study. The instrument used to collect data for this project was a self-report questionnaire, not objective observation. The questionnaires were distributed to 410 students of the University of Isfahan .The interpretation of survey results indicates the existence of an actual and meaningful relationship between the use of popular music and aggressive behaviors. Survey results indicate negative feedback about the popular music consumption from the post-Revolutionary era (referring to 1978 Revolution in Iran), and reveal positive response with regard to the use of popular music from the post-Revolutionary era. Another interesting result uncovers that the most aggressive students are amongst the audience for the Western genres of popular music (rap, rock, heavy metal). As a result and considering the musicological features of the “popular music”, as well as the socio-psychological characteristics of the youth, one may conclude that all types and genres of popular music from the post-Revolutionary era, seem to be more appropriate to the young population of nowadays Iran.

Abstract: 

Comparative study of different post-revolutionary generation has been broadly applied by social scientists; among them some believe there is a gulf between generations, while some others endorsing some small differences among generations, emphasis that this variety is natural. Avoiding being loyal to any of these two views, the present study attempts to compare three different post-revolutionary academic generations using theory of “generative objects” which explores generations’ view about their behaviors, Beliefs, and historical monuments. Sampling was carried among 3 generations; firstly ones who were student in 60s and now are experienced faculties in the university, secondly ones who are recently employed as faculty members, and finally who are now students in universities. Results show that in all 3 generations there are essential in-generation similarities, while comparatively there are some differentiations in inter-generative analysis.

Abstract: 

Culture and organizational climate is one of the internal factors of organization that it is very important and necessary. If any organization has been weaknesses at one of them, it could not arrive to required position. In according with history study, organizational successful depends on Organizational culture. Organizational culture is not touching phenomena but it shows real living of organizational workers. For this reason, organizational culture assessment for determine of exist of positive perception from thirteen factors of organizational culture included identification, commitment, constancy, behavior, functions, control, coordinating, individual initiative, responsibility, directing, fluency, managerial supporting and communication in small part producers firms in Tabriz city was the main goal of this research for testing of hypothesis as exist of positive relation between organizational culture factors in official organizations. High degree received from individual initiative and low degree received from managerial supporting organizational culture factor after relative questionnaires distribute for available samples mentioned organizations included managers, experts and workers that also correlation showed positive relation between organizational culture factors in organizations. Variance analysis showed that organizational culture factors at organizational different divisions about perception of workers of organizational departments that there are not difference between organizational culture factors in opinions of managers and experts of organizations but there is difference between organizational culture factors in opinions of workers.
