Abstract: 

The present study examined the relationships between the use of cognitive and meta-cognitive strategies on the one hand and EFL reading achievement on the other hand. Data were collected from 30 randomly selected EFL learners studying English Language and Literature at Kashan University, Iran. The participants included six male (20%) and 24 female (80%) learners, who were further classified into highly successful (n=6), moderately successful (n=19), and unsuccessful (n=5). The collected data included reading comprehension achievement scores and responses to a 35-item five-point likert-scale cognitive and Meta cognitive questionnaire. Transcripts of retrospective interviews with 4 highly successful and 4 unsuccessful test-takers were also used to further clarify the quantitative analyses. Results of the analyses indicated that the correlation between reading achievement and Meta cognitive and it was significant at the 0.05 level.  However, the correlation between cognitive strategies and reading achievement was 0.128 and insignificant, showing only a slight trend and the correlation between meta-cognitive strategies and cognitive strategies was .630 and it is significant at the 0.01 level. MANOVA also showed that students at higher levels of reading ability use meta-cognitive strategies more often that less successful readers. The findings of the study suggest that the use of meta-cognitive strategies can account for variation in EFL reading achievement and needs to be promoted by EFL teachers. Gender did not have a determining role in the use of either cognitive or meta-cognitive strategies in this study.

Abstract: 

The purpose of this study is to compare the performances of male ordinary students who are children of divorced students aged between 7 to 9 from the first grade up to the third grade in Tehran by applying a descriptive family assessment. In so doing, 50 of the students were identified and tested.The result of the test indicates that the students option ratio for the first major personality, for the most affectionate person, for the last personality described by the students are different in two groups. In describing their families, the children of seprated families were different from the ordinary students, and they do not describe their parents as their first personalities.Also, the most affectionate personality described by the children of the ordinary families is their parents, compared to the children of divorce, and for these children the most non-affectionate personality is one of their parents.

Abstract: 

In this study the effect of the systematic desensitization method on the exam anxiety and on the age related school performance of female students at secondary school level in Behbahan was studied. The sample population of this study includes all the third grade female students of secondary school in Behbahan in the education year 1385- 86. The statistical sample is 42 of these students which were- selected randomly in several phases and were assigned to two experimental and control groups. After random selection of the groups a pretest was given to the both groups. The experiment group received the treatment (desensitizing method) and finally both groups were given a post- test. The data analysis indicated that the regular desensitization method decreased test anxiety and increased school performance of the female students in the experiment group.

Abstract: 

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between ego development and personality disorder of prisoners compared with non- prisoners.The subjects include two groups of Go individuals in which the experiment group belonged to male prisoners (except for political prisoners) with an educational background of secondary school up to high school graduates.The control group was selected from non- prisoners who did not have records of psychosis. In order to gain a profile of personality disorder, a malti axis clinical test and in order to investigate the degree of ego development the Kattle 16 factor test was employed. The finding of the study indicates that the prisoners (the experiment group) differ significantly in all scales of personality disorders from the control group except for obsessive personality scales. As for the age development, the two groups showed significant difference in the age power and excitement sensitivity.

Abstract: 

The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors that have an impact on the happiness level. For this reason, 453 individual (191 males and 262 females) were selected randomly in Yazd and they were given the Oxford happiness questionnaire and demographic questionnaires (including some criteria such as: age, sex, education, Job, marital status, religious and athletic and artistic activities). The findings of the study indicate that there is a positive connection between age, sex, education, athletic and religious and artistic activities and the happiness level. Also there is a negative relationship between physical. And psychological health, social- family relations, optimism, view of happiness and happiness scores in the study.

Abstract: 

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of teaching muscular relaxation on decreasing the psychological symptoms of the premenstrual syndrome. For This reason, 42 female students living in the dormitories of Allameh Tabatabai University which suffered from the syndrome, were selected by volunteer sampling and were randomly assigned to the experimental and control groups. In this study Jackson relaxation method was taught in 6 sessions during two menstrual periods along with a C.P which included the instructions by the voice of the researcher. The findings indicated that teaching muscle relaxation techniques can significantly decrease the psychological symptoms of the premenstrual syndrome.

Abstract: 

The basic purpose of the present study is to identity the effect of blindness and deafness on the attachment patterns with regard to the sex and marital status variables. The data was gathered based on the causal- comparative research method by giving the Hizen and Shower's attachment questionnaire to 114 blind, deaf, and ordinary subjects who were randomly selected. The results of data analysis of the T- test given to the independent group, one-sided variance analysis, and also the analysis of the two- sided variance indicates that the sex and marital status factors play no significant role in determining attachment patterns. The subjects' status of relationship plays a role in attachment patterns. It was also found that the blind individual follow a more avoidance pattern.

Abstract: 

The purpose of this study is to find relationship between emotional intelligence indicators and academic performance of Islamic Azad University of Islamshahr.The sample population of this study includes 400 individual who were selected by multi-step cultural sampling method. (200 male and 200 female students) and were given a Bar-Oven emotional test questionnaire. The findings indicate that the co-efficient correlation calculated is significant and positive for emotional intelligence and academic performance. Also, the results of step by step analysis of regression indicate that among the emotional intelligence indicators, optimism, and stress to tolerance, and problem solving are considered to be significant predicators for academic performance.
