This research investigates the relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Leadership style in Iran Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. The necessity of this research has inspired of the importance of emotional intelligence in increased employee cooperation, increased innovation, increased performance, increased productivity and increased profit. In fact, research has shown that managers with high emotional intelligence get better results from employees, which results in employee performance beyond expectation. The literature provided discusses the two variables of emotional intelligence and the leadership.Information was gathered, using two instruments, from a sample of 61 leaders.The Syberiashring Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire was used to determine the Emotional Intelligence competencies of the leader, while the Likert leadership questioner was used to determine leadership style within the Iran Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. Emotional Intelligence was identified as independent variable and leadership style az dependent variable.Data obtained from each of the research instruments was then statistically analyzed through Pierson correlation analysis. It was concluded that there is a negative significant relationship between exploitive- authoritative system and emotional intelligence. However no significant linear relationship was found between benevolent- authoritative system and emotional intelligence.Correlation analysis showed that there is a relatively week significant linear relationship between consultative system and emotional intelligence. Moreover, it was found that there is a very strong significant relationship between participative- group system and EI. As this research takes place in Iran Ministry of Housing and Urban Development it contributes to the bank of finding relating to the concepts.
