حفظ کیفیت آموزش عالی در گرو دو سازوکار اساسی است. آنچه در مرحله نخست، شالوده کیفی آموزش عالی را پایه ریزی می کند، برنامه ریزی مسوولانه و متناسب با شرایط موجود علم و فناوری است. در مرحله بعدی، آنچه اهمیت اساسی دارد، دقت در اجرای صحیح برنامه های آموزشی است که طبیعتا نتیجه گیری درست از این برنامه های آموزشی را به دنبال خواهد داشت. نقصان کیفی در هر یک از این دو مرحله، کاستی در کیفیت آموزش عالی را به دنبال خواهد داشت.

Abstract: 

Purpose: The survey has been conducted to evaluate and to recognize the websites conditions of the internal library and information journals based on the qualitative evaluation (W.Q.A.T.) tool.Methodology: The research is evaluative survey and the evaluation tool is W.Q.A.T. The tool examines the validity of the websites based on the nine general criteria including: content, performance, validity, up-to-date, connection, graphics, scope, and the labels use. The population contained 13 library and information websites which had independent websites. To analyze the data obtained, the percentage, rating mean, and the standard deviation were used.Findings: More than 60% of the websites under study were evaluated from the content quality aspect and more than 80% from the performance score were evaluated as moderate and strong. From the validity score viewpoints, all the websites acted as moderate and more. Only 8% acted strong from the up-to-date aspect and the connection performance had moderate performance. Also, 47% of the websites obtained weak and very weak scores.More than 90% of the websites graphics performance was evaluated as upper moderate and more than 93% of them rated as strong, 46% of super labels were excellent and about 54% were weak.Results: Of the all 31 components and 8 criteria for the evaluation of the library and information journals, only 2 performance and the content criteria had strong score. The graphics, structure, super labels had moderate, the connection and up-to-date criteria had weak performance.

Abstract: 

Purpose: The aim of this research is to investigate the information seeking behavior of Islamic Azad University of Najafabad Master students.Methodology: A descriptive-survey method was used and the statistical population of this research was the students of the first semester of 2010-2011 academic year. The research tool was a researcher-developed questionnaire.Findings: The findings showed that the main source of information for student was a knowledgeable person in the subject. The main purpose was writing thesis, and the most important instrument was library software. About the university library: most of the information resources were textbooks, the primary purpose of information seeking in the library was doing homeworks, and the most used tools, was library software and the most information resource services used in library was library reference services.Conclusions: The results of this study indicate that academic libraries and librarians failed to meet the information needs and conduct information seeking behavior of graduate students, which is due to the weaknesses of the planning and investment.

Abstract: 

Porpuse: The aim of this study is investigation on readiness of Iranian university libraries to provide electronic public services. According to the research gap regarding the use of information and communication technology to provide public services in these centers indicate the necessity of this study.Method: Research method is survey, and the population is university libraries under the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology and ones of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education census and University Library of Azad provincial capitals, which have been studied, purposeful sampling. This cross - functional survey has used four questionnaires that are researcher made.Results: With regarding public services provided from any library in the three categories (reference, information and loan) results showed that the acquaintance of users, administrators and academic librarians “electronic public services” has been at a low level (2.98) and attitudes towards these groups to provide these services generally has been moderate (3.78). Acquaintance of and attitudes towards the provision of reference services by these groups in academic libraries had more electronic public services.Conclusions: Non of Iranian university libraries provide high level electronic public services. Academic libraries in future planning applications for electronic public services are in average range (3.91).

Abstract: 

Purpose: The aim of this research is to study the ways of improving services peripheral in the province of Isfahans’ public libraries from the viewpoints of users based on IFLA and UNESCO guidelines.Methodology: The research method is survey and the data was collected by the inventory based on IFLA and UNESCO guidelines. The population included all the members of the public libraries located in five regions of Isfahan province. Using the cluster sampling, population of 459 individuals were selected.Findings: The findings showed library outside services, storytelling classes and the formation of study groups to improve province’s public libraries services peripheral are effective.Conclusion: The findings will inform library administrators and librarians under investigation the status of services peripheral and the extent of users’ needs and their satisfaction with the service. This could also be a model for the other public libraries to enhance their quality and quantity of services peripheral and their satisfaction with the users.

Abstract: 

Purpose: The purpose of this research is to survey the viewpoints of Tehran Islamic Azad University MLIS students about Iranian library and information science weblogs.Method: The method of this research is survey. Gathering information tools is a questionnaire made by the researcher. 144 questionnaire were e-mailed to the students. The analysis of information was done by SPSS software.Findings: According to the achieved result: there is a high level of familiarity between these students with weblogs (70 percent), the correlation between the librarianship weblogs and the student’s information needs is (66 percent) and also these weblogs have an increasing effect on the student’s specific knowledge (79 percent).The following items were evaluated at low level: The student’s motivation for using weblogs is (43 percent), the positive points of weblogs (36 percent).Conclusion: Finally, the knowledge and information science students are satisfied moderately with the Iranian library and information science weblogs .At the end some suggestions for improving the positive points of weblogs are offered.

Abstract: 

Purpose: The main goal of this study relies on the identification of information needs and researches for the students of Islamic Azad University of Qaemshahr and the role of the library in fulfilling their objectives.Method: The design of this study is a library research that browses the researching works done by bachelor studentsof this university. The questionnaire has been delivered to the students by the university officials. By the help of spss software, 357 questionnaires have been analyzed in both qualitative and quantitative methods.Findings: Through analyzing the obtained data, it is shown that the main objectives of these students in information scanning are as the follow. The item related to the average research done due to the course projects is (11.5) and the complimentary information of their textbooks is (3.36). The original sources of researchers are the standard sources of specific books, scientific journals, students’ thesis and reports that are the main sources to provide information needed by the students. On the other hand, the use of internet and different search engines are the most popular ways of scanning information to the students. The basic problems in this field are misinforming about the available sources, lack of e-books and the old books in the libraries. Finally the results of this study have been interpreted and the respective suggestions offered.Results: The results showed that the role of the libraries of the university in fulfilling their information needs estimated approximately medium. These students benefit from their own and other libraries to satisfy their information needs.

Abstract: 

Purpose: Studying the information needs of Iran publications directors.Methodology: The survey method is used in this research. The sample totaled 1997 directors that 214 ones were selected through a systematic random sampling. The questionnaire is used as a tool of the survey. To analyze the data, we used descriptive statistics including frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and variance. Also, the data was analyzed by the SPSS software.Findings: Iran publications directors considered 56 persons (%37.33) as the first priority of their most needs for information resources to train and to research; they also considered 50 persons (%33.33) as their second priority of the most needs for information resources to increase professional knowledge. The directors considered 55 persons (%36.6) as the third priority of the most needs for information resources to increase personal knowledge and 91 persons (%60.66) as the forth priority to gain information about other publications respectively.The most average of gaining information is highly through the Internet (%4.11). The Fox News Media is of “the most used media” for information resources; “the least useed media” of the resources is a Latin one called Persivishen (%0.56). There are many various methods of surfing the Internet and websites. The importance of the library in fulfilling the information needs under this study sample is %3.13.Conclusion: It was found that the Internet is the first information device for publications of the  managers and the usage of readers opinions is in the next step. The main aim of the publications of the managers is to search information and up to date it (37.33%). Finally, they use more than 34% from their emails.

Abstract: 

Purpose: Due to the importance of information technology and its effect on the libraries, this study examines to find out the using rate of information technology in the libraries of Tabriz University (12 libraries) and to what extent the problems are in using them. The research method is descriptive survey.Methodology: Data needed for research is collected through questionnaires distributed among the people responsible for these libraries.Findings: Results showed that the most and the least used hardware facilities were computers (227) and opaque projectors (1). Internet access facilities in Tabriz University libraries are given as follows: search engines (12 libraries), E-mails (7 libraries), weblogs, new groups and conferences (5 libraries), chat rooms (3 libraries), and discussion groups (2 libraries). Document delivery services ( 2 libraries). Services of Selective Dissemination of Information, Electronic Message Board, and Online Catalog in 2 libraries, and Current Awareness Services in 3 libraries are given.conclusions: The obstacles for using information technology in these libraries include: Cost of contact to the data bases, lack of familiarity in using such resources by users, not having enough trained staff to help in using information technology (9 libraries), lack of support from officials (8 libraries), not having enough knowledge of English language, hardware and software problems (7 libraries), Internet access difficulties (5 libraries), and lack of electronic resources (3 libraries).
