Abstract:

The present study aimed to compare the effectiveness of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in reducing PTSD symptoms severity among Iranian children 20 months after the 2008 Qeshm earthquake. This study follows an experimental design with randomized pre-test post-test to control the internal and external validity of the study. In this study, 26 students from 7 to 12 years old who received PTSD diagnosis due to earthquake based on the clinical interview were randomly assigned to CBT, EMDR, and wait-list control groups. All the participants completed UCLA-PTSD DSM-IV Index as pre-test and post-test. The respondents in the treatment groups were also required tocomplete The Youth Client Satisfaction Questionnaire (YCSQ). According to the results of ANCOVA, after participating in 8-12 sessions of psychotherapy, the participants of CBT and EMDR groups showed a significant reduction in overall PTSD symptoms compared to the wait-list group between the pre and the post-intervention. Although in comparison to EMDR, CBT was more effective in reduction of PTSD symptoms, the difference was not statistically significant. Post-treatment therapeutic outcomes were maintained during six weeks follow-up; however, the effects of EMDR were improved during this period. The results also showed no significant difference between the respondents' satisfaction from CBT and EMDR. Both CBT and EMDR appeared to be feasible and acceptable to PTSD children survived from natural disasters.

Abstract:

Aim: The target of this investigation is to evaluate the effect of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) on healing of sex addict women. Method: The performance of this research was done by the single Subject on five sex addict women in Fars province, chose by the purposive sampling methods, using the several basal line method. For gathering information, the questionnaire of Karnes sex addict, was used. Results revealed that the entire hypothesis was confirmed. The index of healing in sexual behaviors variables was downward in relation to the basal line of healing. Discussion: Regarding the comprising index of women's sex addicts with trauma and sexual abuse in their childhood, according to this investigation and the positive relation between sex addict related trauma and symptoms of post trauma stress, and positive effect of this method of healing Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing could be used for sex addicts healing.

Abstract:

Today MS "multiple sclerosis" is one of the most current disease on which less psychological research specialized to it rather than other illnesses. So, purpose of this paper is to consider relationship between family communication patterns and personality traits with psychological well-being by intermediate of resiliency among MS patients . Research society included all MS patients from Fars state who 200 persons (male & female) were selected by sampling method  and  then they answered to NEO personality traits  questionnaire ( Costa & Mc Care), Revision Tools of Family communication patterns  (Koerner & Fitzpatrick), ARS adult resilience scale questionnaire (friborg) and psychological well-being (Ryff). In addition to descriptive methods (using median, standard deviation, correlative matrix) statistical hierarchical regression methods were used, too, in order to analysis data's. Results show that two dimensions of family communication patterns-i.e. conversation-orientation and conformity-orientation – have the prediction power for resiliency and psychological well-being and among these 5 factors of personality traits just extroversion can  predict resiliency and psychological well-being. Also resiliency have significant intermediative role in family communication patterns, personality traits and psychological well-being.

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to investigate the validity, reliability and factor structure of Illinois Bullying Scale (IBS) for Iranian students. Participants were 297 students (150 boys, 147 girls) in middle schools were selected by random cluster sampling in Shiraz, Iran. Mean age of the students was 13.6. They completed two self-report instruments: Illinois Bullying Scale and Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire. The reliability coefficient in three different methods: cornbach alpha, test-retest and split-half those were .89, .72 and .73 respectively. The concurrent validity of the scale as measured by the Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire was .47 (p<.01). subscale-total correlation coefficients, as another index of validity were between .45 to .79. Factor analysis of the scale using varimax rotation showed 3 factors called  Bully, Fight and Victim which covered over the 61 percent of the total variance. The scale is a contribution towards measuring bullying and victimization in Iranian students.

Abstract:

One of the important factors in education is to increase positive self-concept in students. Increasing this factor can affect academic achievement positively. The purpose of this study is investigating psychometric properties of school self-concept questionnaire (Yi-Hissn Chen, 2004) in Iranian students. The population was all the students of nonprofit primary school in district 2 of Tehran. The sample of this study consisted of 252 students in the nonprofit primary schools. For validity, it is used content validity, structural validity, factor analysis and Convergent validity by use of Rosenberg self-esteem. For reliability, the Cronbach's alpha coefficient of this instrument was found 0, 78. Results show three components including general, academic and non-academic self-concept were obtained. Based on the findings, the researcher concluded that school self-concept Questionnaire has undoubtedly strong psychometric properties and good constructs validity that makes him conclude that it is useful for assessing primary students' self-concept research in Iran.

This study investigated the moderating role of cognitive emotion regulation between parenting and academic adjustment. Participants were 400 university firs grade student (233girls &167 boys) of Shiraz University who were selected via random cluster sampling. Participants completed Alabama parenting Questioner, Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questioner and Academic Adjustment to College Questioner. Multiple regression statistical method with the use of Baron & Kenny steps (1986) was used. The results indicated that cognitive emotion regulation strategies (especially positive cognitive emotion regulation strategies) were a mediator between parenting and academic adjustment. It means that effective parenting increase the use of positive cognitive emotion regulation for academic adjustment of university students.
