Introduction: The effect of ketogenic diets (KD) on body composition in different populations has been investigated. More recently, some studies have recommended that athletes adhere to ketogenic diets to optimize changes in body composition during training. However, there is less evidence related to trained women. The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effect of eight weeks of ketogenic diet along with resistance training on muscle strength and body composition of obese women. Materials and Methods: In this semi-experimental study, which was conducted with a pre-test and posttest design, 30 obese women of Khorram Abad city, with an age range of 20 to 35 years, were selected through convenience sampling. They were divided into 2 groups of 15 people consuming ketogenic diet and non-ketogenic diet under the conditions of 4 training sessions per week (divided into 2 periods 4 weeks) for eight weeks of resistance training, they were divided into 2 groups of 15 people consuming ketogenic diet and non-ketogenic diet. Results: The results showed that the ketogenic diet compared to the non-ketogenic diet had a significant effect in reducing body fat percentage (p<0. 01). Other results showed that the non-ketogenic diet improved muscle strength compared to the ketogenic diet. However, the ketogenic diet and non-ketogenic diet had no significant effect on lean mass (p>0. 05). Conclusion: These findings show that increasing strength can be achieved in a ketogenic diet, but these gains may be less compared to the ketogenic diet in women.

Introduction: Recently, performing regular sport activities has received attention due to the release of Myokines in reducing the complications caused by Covid-19, especially reducing inflammation and oxidative stress, rebuilding and repairing damaged tissues and reducing metabolic disorders. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of eight weeks of selected resistance training on the levels of Irisin, Follistatin and FGF21 in women who recovered from Covid-19. Materials and Methods: Upon a public call, twenty-two women who recovered from Covid-19 in Abadan and Khorramshahr cities were selected and divided into two groups of 11 people, including the resistance training group and the control group, . The resistance training protocol was implemented for eight weeks and three sessions per week, including eight movements with an intensity of 40 to 75% of a maximum repetition. Blood sampling was done in two stages before and after the implementation of the protocol. The measurement of the levels of the Irisin, Follistatin and FGF21 was done by ELISA method and the data was analyzed using the covariance statistical test (ANCOVA) at the (p<0. 05) level. Results: Comparison of the between groups data showed that the values of irisin (p<0. 05), follistatin (p<0. 05) and FGF21 (p<0. 05) significantly increased in the resistance group compared to the control group. In addition, the examination of intra-group changes of irisin (p<0. 05), follistatin (p<0. 05) and FGF21 (p<0. 05) indicated that there is a significant increase between the mean before and after implementation of the protocol in the resistance group. Conclusion: It seems that resistance training leads to improvement of Myokine profile through the recovery of muscle mass in women recovering from covid-19.

Introduction: Considering the prevalence of Alzheimer's disease, which is the most common form of dementia, and the lack of a definitive treatment for it, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of exercise training with the consumption of saffron extract on the expression of Bax, Bcl-2, and Caspase-3 genes in male rats with Alzheimer's disease. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, 48 adult male rats were randomly divided into 6 groups: control, Alzheimer, Alzheimer and endurance training, Alzheimer and endurance training and extract, Alzheimer and extract, and the control and endurance training group. The Alzheimer's model was created by injecting amyloid beta 42-1 into the CA1 region of the hippocampus. Aerobic exercises, including 3 training sessions per week, were performed on alternate days for 8 weeks. The Real-Time PCR method was used to determine the expression level of the desired genes. Two-way analysis of variance and Tomhane's post hoc test were used to analyze the data. Results: The results showed that after 8 weeks of aerobic training, the Bax gene expression in the intervention groups significantly decreased compared to the Alzheimer's group (p<0. 05). Also, Caspase-3 in Alzheimer and endurance training, and Alzheimer and endurance training and extract group had a significant decrease compared to Alzheimer's group (p<0. 05). Bcl-2 gene expression in Alzheimer and endurance training, and Alzheimer and endurance training and extract showed a significant increase compared to Alzheimer's group (p<0. 05). Conclusion: It seems that aerobic exercise and consumption of saffron extract improve the factors involved in apoptosis in Alzheimer's male mice.
