Abstract:

Everyone during their lives, especially during adolescence, might sometimes experience concerns about their physical appearance. Some people might experience this concern very severely so that it interferes many aspects of their daily life. The purpose of this present research was to investigate the relationship between body dimorphic concerns and five factor model of personality in students. The research sample consists of 150 guidance students of TAFT schools who were selected by simple random sampling method. The instrument were used in present study are NEO- FFI and BICI. The results showed that there is significant negative correlation between agreeableness and consciousness personality with concerns about physical appearance. The results also revealed that the best predictor variables for body dysmorphic concerns were agreeableness and consciousness personality.  Therefore we can conclude that the personality of students is an important factor that can contribute to the development of body dysmorphic disorders.

Abstract:

Type D personality as a factor increases the psychological turmoil, health issues and unpleasant clinical consequences and has devastating effects on physical and psychological health of individuals. The aim of this study was the determination and relationship between alexithymia and the locus of control with Type D personality among students. The sample included 92 students (64 girls and 28 boys) who were selected by multistage random sampling. To gather data, the questionnaire of Toronto Alexithymia Scale (Bagbay, Parker&Taylor, 1994), Locus of Control (Rotter, 1996) and Type D personality (Denollet, 1998) were used. The results of Pearson correlation showed that there is a meaningful relationship between Type D personality with superficial thought (P=0.005) and External locus of control (P=0.002). Also the results of regression showed that there is a meaningful relationship between alexithymia with Social Inhibition (b=0.30), Negative Emotion (b=0.22) and External locus of control (b=0.21) and it can predict these factors.  The results of this study convey the importance and the necessity of considering the question of identifying the locus of control and the correct guidance of it and also the manner of individual’s emotional expressiveness and the prevention of its improper practices. This study, also tries to decrease consequences of the negative factors associated with Type D personality to the level of minimum.

Abstract:

In this study the relationship between six major dimensions of personality –HEXACO- and individual attitude toward psychology had been investigated. Present survey’s population was Tabriz city people who participated in 2013 summer fair of Tabriz city's mayoralty. Using multistage random sampling, 432 individuals (223 females and 209 males) were selected and were asked to complete HEXACO personality inventory and Attitude toward Psychology Scale. According to results of Pearson’s correlation analysis, there was a positive relation between 6 dimensions with attitude to psychology. Furthermore emotionality was the best predictive of cognitive attitude toward psychology. The results of regression analysis, also revealed the positive relation between attitude toward psychology with emotionality, conscientiousness, openness to experience, and agreeableness.

Abstract:

Co-dependency, as well as any suffering and turmoil, results from focusing on others individual needs and behaviors. This study was aimed to investigate the association between Co-dependency with depression and attachment styles among female students. In this correlational study, using simple random sampling, 252 female students of Al-Zahra University were selected. All the participants were asked to complete Holyoake Codependency Index, the Beck Depression Inventory and Adult Attachment Questionnaire. Pearson correlation and ANOVA were used to analyze the data. The results showed that there is a significant positive correlation between Co-dependency and depression. Also, Co-dependency has a significant positive relationship with avoidant insecure and ambivalent insecure attachment styles. ANOVA results indicated that Co-dependent individuals showed higher avoidant and ambivalent insecure attachment styles than others. The results, also, showed that Co-dependency is associated with extreme concentration on others’ needs, depression and dysfunctional attachment styles.

Abstract:

The aim of this research was to determine the relationship between personality traits and basic psychological needs in girl students of Shahid Chamran, Ahvaz University. Research population is all of the students of Shahid Chamran University studing in 1392-1393 academic year. Using multistage random sampling method, 180 female students were selected. The instruments used in this study were (NEO-FFI) and Basic Psychological needs (Laguardia, Ryan, Couchmam and Deci, 2000) Questionnaire. The correlation coefficient and stepwise regression were to analyze the data. The results of this research showed that personality traits have main role in prediction of basic psychological needs (autonomy, competence and related). The results also indicated that neuroticism has significant negative relationship with basic psychological needs; while traits extraversion, conscientiousness, agreeableness, and openness had significant positive relationship with basic psychological needs.

Abstract:

The aim of present study was to investigate the preferred learning styles of Iranian university students, the differences of learning styles regarding to gender and field of study, and the contribution of learning styles as predictors of the students' academic performance. Using convenience sampling method, 982 students (572 female, 410 male) were selected and were asked to complete the Grasha-Riechmann Student Learning Style Scales (GRSLSS). MANOVA, t-test and multiple regression analysis were used to analyze the data. The results showed that Iranian students prefer dependent, cooperative, and competitive learning styles respectively; Male students preferred avoidant learning style more than the female students, whereas female students preferred dependent, cooperative and collaborative learning styles. The academic performance of students was correlated positively with competitive and cooperative learning styles and negatively with avoidant learning styles. Only avoidant learning style could predict students' academic performance. By understanding the learning styles of students, the educators can use a proper teaching system to meet the students' preferential learning styles.

Abstract:

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between maternal attachment styles, the compatibility of third-grade girls in public high schools of the city of Kerman, according to the education level of their parents in the school year 90-91. The present study is a descriptive study of correlation and regression analysis. For this purpose, 295 female students randomly (multi-stage) between the two public high schools in Kerman were selected. The present study included adjustment tool for High School Students (AISS) and Adults Attachment Scale (RAAS), and demographic questions. To analyze the data, hierarchical regression was used. According to the results obtained from the hierarchical regression can be of different dimensions that fit through the available attachment styles and is forecast, so that by increasing the safe attachment, be more compatible. Parental education levels, as well as a significant role in the relationship between attachment styles and compatibility is especially educational and social. So that with increasing level of education, the more secure attachment and adjustment will increase.

Abstract:

To investigate the determinants of aggressive behavior in adolescent boys of Bandar Abbas, 243 high school students were selected by multistage random sampling. Participants were asked to complete Snyder and Gangsted 18 items Self-Monitoring Scale (1986), Noodargah 35 items Affective Family Climate Questionnaire (1373), YaAhmadi 40 items Life Skills (1386) and Buss and Perry 29 items Aggression Questionnaire (1972). The obtained data were analyzed by the correlation matrix and correlation coefficient of multiple regressions. The results showed that self-monitoring, affective family climate, and life skills are considered a good model for the prediction of aggression in adolescent boys, so that the model could explain 62.1% of the variance in aggression among high school students. The results also showed that the affective family climate, life skills, and self-monitoring are significantly associated with the occurrence of aggression in adolescents.
