Pages

  47-61

Abstract

CO-DEPENDENCY, as well as any suffering and turmoil, results from focusing on others individual needs and behaviors. This study was aimed to investigate the association between CO-DEPENDENCY with DEPRESSION and ATTACHMENT STYLES among female students. In this correlational study, using simple random sampling, 252 female students of Al-Zahra University were selected. All the participants were asked to complete Holyoake Codependency Index, the Beck DEPRESSION Inventory and Adult Attachment Questionnaire. Pearson correlation and ANOVA were used to analyze the data. The results showed that there is a significant positive correlation between CO-DEPENDENCY and DEPRESSION. Also, CO-DEPENDENCY has a significant positive relationship with avoidant insecure and ambivalent insecure ATTACHMENT STYLES. ANOVA results indicated that Co-dependent individuals showed higher avoidant and ambivalent insecure ATTACHMENT STYLES than others. The results, also, showed that CO-DEPENDENCY is associated with extreme concentration on others’ needs, DEPRESSION and dysfunctional ATTACHMENT STYLES.
