Abstract: 

2Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of sports rehabilitation exercises with vitamin D consumption on fatigue, sleep quality and depression level of people with osteosarcoma cancer after bone marrow stem cell transplantation. Methods: In this study, 27 women with osteosarcoma cancer with body mass index above 30 kg/m2, age 24.90±4.03 years, height 163.85±3.62 cm and weight 82.17±4.5 kg were randomly divided into four groups. (patient-exercise), (patient-exercise-vitamin D), (patient-exercise-placebo) and (control) were divided. The training protocol includes ten weeks of Pilates exercise. The supplement group took 500 IU of vitamin D three days a week for 10 weeks. Data were analyzed using dependent t-test and one-way analysis of variance. Results: The results of the covariance analysis of the research of three exercise groups showed that after ten weeks of sports rehabilitation with vitamin D consumption, the indicators of fatigue and the level of depression decreased significantly (P≤ 0.05). Also, the results of covariance analysis of the three training groups showed that the overall sleep quality of people with osteosarcoma cancer increased significantly (P≤ 0.05). Conclusion: Based on the obtained results, it is suggested that the consumption of vitamin D along with exercise rehabilitation can be an effective treatment method for fatigue, sleep quality and depression in people with osteosarcoma cancer. Abstract: 

2Background: We aimed to examine the distribution of all types of musculoskeletal diseases and then to estimate the direct and indirect costs caused by these complaints among soldiers and non-soldiers’ employees in military. Methods: We recruited all patients referred with musculoskeletal complaints who were admitted to the rheumatology, orthopedics and neurosurgery committees of 501 army hospital from 2013 to 2015. The cost of diagnostic procedures was calculated based on the data of records and the cost of treatment for each complaint was estimated by calculating the average cost of treatment plans proposed by two physical medicine and rheumatology specialists. Indirect costs due to leave and reduced working time and hospitalization and disability were estimated and added to the direct cost. Results: 2116 patients with an average age of 25.84 ± 8.17 years were examined. 1252 people were soldiers and 864 people were non-soldiers. Fracture (301 cases), lumbar disc bulges and herniation (303 cases), and geno varus/geno valgus (257 cases) were three most common complaints. The most damaged site were lower limbs and spine. In total, 4,120 person-days of absence were estimated for these people annually, and the annual economic effect was calculated to be 1,713,903,120 Tomans. Conclusion: Musculoskeletal diseases are one of the prevalent health and economic problems in military. Therefore, application of diagnostic and therapeutic strategies and considering the cost & benefit law to reduce the economic burden and disability should be among the priorities of the Army University to prevent and save health costs.

Abstract: 

2Background: Diabetes is a global epidemic and the most common metabolic disorder caused by impaired insulin secretion and glucose metabolism. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of 8 weeks of aerobic training on serum levels of asprosin and insulin resistance index in diabetic rats. Methods: The statistical population of this research included 40 10-week-old mice with an initial weight of 250 ± 20 grams, which were randomly divided into four groups (10 mice in each group): diabetic-exercise group (DT), diabetic group - Control (DC), healthy-training group (HT) and healthy-control group (HC) were divided. The program of aerobic exercises was performed for 8 weeks (5 sessions per week) in the form of running on a treadmill. Independent t-test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) with Tukey's post hoc test were used to compare the groups. All data were analyzed at a significance level of 0.05 using SPSS-25 software. Results: The results of the present study showed that streptozotocin injection induced diabetes in mice (P= 0.001). Induction of diabetes caused a significant increase in the serum levels of asprosin and insulin resistance in mice (P= 0.048 and P= 0.012, respectively). Eight weeks of aerobic training decreased the serum levels of asprosin and decreased insulin resistance in diabetic rats (P= 0.001 and P= 0.036, respectively). Conclusion: Induced diabetes causes insulin resistance and increase in serum levels of asprosine, which can be improved by performing aerobic exercises.

Abstract: 

2Background: Transcription factor 7-like 2 (TCF7L2) is one of the strongest genetic risk factors associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of 10 weeks of high intensity interval training (HIIT) on hepatic TCF7L2 expression in T2DM rats.    Methods: In this experimental study, fourteen males Wistar rats with T2DM induced by streptozotocin-nicotinamide injection were randomly divided into exercise (n=7) and control (n=7) groups. The exercise group performed the HIIT protocol on a treadmill for 10 weeks and 5 days per week. Hepatic TCF7L2 expression, blood glucose level, hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), insulin and insulin resistance were measured 48 hours after the last training session. Data were analyzed by independent T test at P< 0.05. Results: Hepatic TCF7L2 expression and serum insulin were significantly higher in the exercise group compared to the control group (P˂0.05). Blood glucose level, HbA1c and insulin resistance were significantly lower in the exercise group than in the control group (P˂0.05).       Conclusion: Based on these findings, it seems that the improved glycemic control in response to HIIT is partially dependent on the inhibition of gluconeogenesis caused by increased hepatic TCF7L2 expression.

Abstract: 

2Background: Diabetes can cause serious cardiovascular complications by disrupting the autophagy pathway. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effect of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on the intracellular levels of autophagy proteins in the left ventricular tissue of rats with type 1 diabetes. Methods: In this experimental study, 18 2-month-old male Sprague-Dawley rats with an average weight of 300±20 grams were selected. Twelve rats had type 1 diabetes after intraperitoneal injection of STZ (with a dose of 50 mg/kg of body weight) solution. Rats were randomly divided into two groups: diabetic training and diabetic control (each group, six heads). A healthy control group (six heads) was also considered. The training group underwent HIIT four days a week for six weeks. GraphPad Prism version 9. 5 software and one-way ANOVA, and Tukey's post hoc tests were used to analyze the data. The significance level was considered P≤ 0. 05. Results: ULK1 and FIP200 levels showed a significant increase in the left ventricle after 6 weeks of HIIT training compared to the healthy control group and the diabetic control group (P= 0. 0001). Conclusion: Considering the increase in ULK1 and FIP200 proteins, it can be concluded that HIIT training can activate the autophagy pathway,Therefore, in prescribing this type of exercise for diabetic subjects, the intensity and duration of the exercise should be considered

Abstract: 

2Background: The present study aimed to investigate the changes in TRx-sh/TRx-s2 levels, GSH values, and total antioxidant capacity following 8 weeks of intense interval training with and without sodium citrate supplementation in diabetic rats. Methods: In this semi-experimental and fundamental study, 50 male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 5 groups: healthy control, control control, selective - exercise, consumption-sodium citrate supplementation, and drink-sodium citrate supplementation. The training protocol included 8 weeks of HIIT training with an intensity of 90% of the maximum speed. The supplement and exercise-supplement groups received daily (764 mg/kg) sodium citrate supplement in the form of a solution in water, three hours before the exercise. 72 hours after the last training session, blood sampling was done and the ELISA method analyzed research variables. To compare study groups, one-way analysis of variance and LSD post hoc test were used in SPSS software (P≥ 0.05). Results: The results showed that the levels of TRx-sh/TRx-s2, GSH, and TAC were significantly different among the five research groups (P= 0.001). Also, the results showed the levels of TRx-sh/TRx-s2, TAC, and GSH in the control-diabetic group (P= 0.001), diabetic-exercise (P= 0.001), and diabetic-supplement group (P= 0.001). and diabetic-supplement-exercise (P= 0.001) had a significant decrease compared to the healthy control group. The levels of TRx-sh/TRx-s2, GSH, and TAC in the diabetic-supplement and diabetic-supplement-exercise groups were significantly increased compared to the diabetic control group (P= 0.001). According to the difference in means, the increase of TRx-sh/TRx-s2, TAC, and GSH was higher in the diabetic-supplemented group. Conclusion: According to the results of the research, it can be assumed that training and sodium citrate supplementation are effective in improving diabetes and this effect is probably exerted by increasing TRx-sh/TRx-s2, TAC, GSH.
