Abstract:

Introduction: Pain is one of the most common problems in patients undergoing joint replacement. Except for medicinal treatments for pain relief, non-pharmacological methods of pain control, such as Benson's relaxation, cause more compromise with pain and reduce pain, fear and anxiety, and can tolerate it for the patient. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of Benson relaxation method on postoperative pain in knee replacement in elderly patients. Methods: This clinical trial study was performed on 56 knee replacement patients referring to Milad and Shahid Beheshti Hospitals of Kashan in 2017 randomly divided into two groups of intervention (Benson relaxation technique (28 cases) and control (28 patients)), intervention group received two sessions of Benson relaxation for 3 days in addition to receiving usual care. For 30 minutes after performing each step, the pain assessment was performed in both groups the severity of pain was measured through a visual analog scale. The data were analyzed using descriptive and analytical statistics (independent t-test, Wilcoxon and Analysis of covariance) was analyzed by SPSS v. 16 at a significant level less than 0. 05. Results: The results of the study showed that before intervention, the mean score of pain in the intervention group in all sessions (except for the first time) was lower than the control group. Pain score in the control group (P <0. 001) was significantly higher than the intervention group It was (P <0. 001). The mean of the moderated pain intensity after the removal of the effect of the pretest, the type of hospital, age and sex in the intervention group was significantly lower than the control group (P <0. 001). Conclusions: The use of Benson's relaxation reduces pain in patients undergoing complete knee joint replacement. Therefore, the use of this technique as a non-drug method is recommended to reduce pain intensity in patients undergoing complete replacement of the knee joint.

Abstract:

Introduction: Lower back pain is an orthopedic disease that affects up to 80% of people throughout their lifetime. It seems that the pattern of muscular activity is related to the components of earthquake photography and should be considered when evaluating back pain and its treatment. The aim of this study was to compare the three-dimensional lower limb joints stiffness during loading response, mid stance, push off and entire of stance phase in low back pain patients and healthy control ones while walking. Methods: This study was a semi-experimental. 15 men with low back pain as an experimental group (age 25. 3± 2. 9years) and 15 healthy men as a control group (age 26± 2. 9 years), were volunteered to participate in the study. Four cameras with a frequency of 100 Hz were used to quantify gait kinematic and also a force plate was used to record the ground reaction force components. Independent sample t-test with significance level of 0. 05 was used for statistical analysis. Results: Hip joint stiffness during loading response in horizontal plane (P=0. 029), at mid stance phase in sagittal (P=0. 009) and horizontal planes (P=0. 004) and also entire stance phase in sagittal (P=0. 004) and horizontal (P=0. 029) planes in the low back pain group, was lower than the healthy group. In the knee joint, stiffness values during mid-stance (P=0. 028) and push of (P=0. 011) phases in frontal plane and at entire stance phase in sagittal (P=0. 000) and frontal (P=0. 000) planes in experimental group were greater than that control group. In the ankle joint, stiffness value during mid-stance phase in sagittal plane (P=0. 022) in experimental group was lower than that healthy control group. Conclusions: Due to decreased stiffness of the hip joints and increased knee and ankle joint stiffness in low back pain patients compared to healthy control ones, the design of therapeutic interactions such as athletic exercises to reinforce ankle invertor muscles, shank and thigh external rotators and abdominal muscles to improve these variables in patients with low back pain.

Abstract:

Introduction: Preterm birth causes significant mental stress in women and increases the risk of postpartum depression. Appropriate interventions can prevent or reduce the complications of it. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of kangaroo care and Lullaby on PPD in women with preterm infants. Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, 90 women-infants were selected using a convenient restricted randomization, random allocation rule that was randomly divided into two intervention and one control groups. The Maternal and Neonatal Demographic Information Questionnaire and the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale was used for data collection. Inclusion criteria were one month after Childbirth; score higher than 13 and no medication prescription. Kangaroo care and Lullaby were performed 30 minutes a day for one month in the intervention groups. The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale was filled out by the women after one month of the interventions. Data was analyzed via SPSS software v. 20 using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: The mean scores of depression had no statistically significant differences before the intervention in the three groups (F2. 86 = 0. 265, P = 0. 77). The depression scores in the control and intervention groups (after the intervention) had statistically significant differences (F (70. 2) = 119. 29, P <0. 001). Considering the differences in the scores before and after the intervention, kangaroo care was the most effective. Conclusions: The kangaroo care method and Lullaby reduced postpartum depression in the women with preterm infants. Therefore, considering the effects of PPD on women and newborns, their use are recommended to women in healthcare settings.
