Abstract:

Purpose: Quality of academic resources is now fully considered as an important part of the country's higher education system. The present study was conducted to analyze the content of the proposed syllabuses of Scientometrics at the Master's degree. Methodology: The current research was done using content analysis. Data was gathered through a check-list., o retrieve various categories of Persian and English books, websites of the National Library and Archives of Iran and the Library of Congress were referred to respectively. Moreover, to measure the cited half-life determination, formula T = Y + y was used. Data analysis was done using Excel Software. Findings: This syllabus includes 126 and 89 Persian and English sources, respectively. %36. 5 of them selected from Q category, and %27 belonged to the Z (bibliography, bibliography, books, industry, and book trade). Category of T (technology), L (education), and others have also been considered relatively less. The half-life of the articles and book were 11 years and 6 months, and 8 years and 6 months respectively. Dr. Osareh is ranked first among the most prolific authors (19. 67), especially in writing articles. Among the authors of the books, the share of Dr. Noroozi Chakoli and Dr. Mehrad are also more significant than the others. Conclustion: Due to the lack of introduction of resources with novel content, as well as the lack of practical syllabuses and translated sources, reviewing the curriculum seemed necessary. Besides, the compilation of sources in the native approach can be effective in influencing research on educational policies of the country.

Abstract:

Purpose: Commercialization of science and technology is one of the most important indexes of innovation in science and technology that can answer this important question: which organizations and countries could change ideas and knowledge into product and wealth, and which factors were effective in this process? This research aimed to identify the commercialization state of academic research studies and their drivers and barriers at Shahed University. Methodology: To meet this purpose, a six-step study was carried out. Based on the literature review, the market analysis approach was selected as the appropriate approach to evaluate the commercial potential of academic research studies. About 214 completed research projects in University were evaluated, as well. Findings: As a result, 70 percent of projects were confirmed to have commercial potential. Based on previous studies, 120 parameters were identified and after refinement, 51 parameters were finalized and grouped into 13 main factors and categorized into three dimensions, namely, individual, organizational, and institutional factors. The result of the expert survey confirmed that the identified factors were reliable. Using the DEMATEL technique to investigate the relationship between the main factors and three dimensions resulted in the prioritization of the most influential factors on the commercialization of academic research as managerial attitude, planning and policymaking, facilitation and support, cultural background, system factors, organizational structure, procurement, and mobilization. In terms of effect factors, priorities included knowledge and awareness, empowerment and skill, creativity and innovation, risk-taking and trust. In the next step, using ANP to prioritize influential factors on commercialization, it was concluded that planning and policymaking, organizational support, managerial attitude, cultural background, facilitation and support, organizational systems, and other factors ranked respectively. In the final step, based on the viewpoint of academic researchers, the state of each identified factor was investigated. Conclustion: The research finding revealed that the lack of each of 13 factors (except risk-taking) can play the role of the barrier for commercialization of academic research results, and the existence of each factor can be a driver for success in the commercialization of research results.

Abstract:

Purpose: The current study aimed at evaluating the relationship between moral growth and self-control variables with "self-citation" and "total citation rates" in the articles of the top authors of Iranian medical sciences’ universities in 2017. Methodology: The current cross-sectional study was conducted to investigate the relationship between the variables of the two domains of Scientometrics and social psychology, and their correlation type (model presentation). The target population in the first part of this research study includes all the writers who had an EH index of 10 or above in the scientific database of 2017. Sampling was done by systematic random sampling. The sample size at this stage was 120 according to the formula n = 104 + m and the study's history. In the citation analysis, two papers from each author were evaluated. The data collected during the first and second parts of the study were analyzed by Excel and SPSS 16. 0. Finally, a regression analysis was performed based on the input method. Findings: The results of the current study showed that the correlation coefficients of the level of moral development and self-citation model have a significant relationship, but the self-control variable does not have a significant relationship with the pattern of total citation rates. Also, there is a meaningful relationship between the self-citation pattern and the pattern of total citation rates. In the regression model by input method, only moral growth factor and self-control variables had the predictive power of predictive power (P <0. 001), but the self-control variable could not be as The predictor of the authors' self-citation pattern is considered. The regression model between the variables of moral growth and self-control as predictive variables and the variable "total rate of citation" as a criterion variable is not significant based on the method of entry. In other words, none of the two variables of the level of moral development and self-control can be a predictive factor for the behavioral pattern of the total rate of citations of authors' articles. Conclustion: According to the results of the current study, the power to explain the 17 percent change in the author's own citation pattern with the factor of the level of moral development suggests that social norms are the cause of real or imaginary pressures on authors, which ultimately leads to more self-citation by the author. The existence of a relationship between the factor of the "moral growth level" and the "self-citation" pattern of the writers as well as the predictive power of this pattern through the above factor is in some way a confirmation of the theory of Cronin's social structure in citation behavior. In other words, part of the self-referential behavior of writers is influenced by social pressures, and it depends on the writers’ level of moral development. Also, the context and primary basis in which the process of citation has taken place is effective in this process. These findings also unequivocally violate the normative theory of citation behavior that claims the citation merely reflects the cognitive or logical effects of scientific work.

Abstract:

Purpose: Books are significant scholarly publications which contribute a large part to the diffusion of scholarly findings and aid general knowledge promotion. The major goal of this research was to determine the relationship between teaching ranks of textbooks used in World Top Rank Universities according to Times Higher Education and indicators extracted from the citation, PageRank, and HITS. Methodology: The current study is applied research and utilizes descriptive correlation method. This research was conducted using citation analysis. The population involved 1869 textbooks from the collections of indexed books in Scopus. The books were identified through matching 168, 866 book titles published between 1953-2017 which were indexed in Scopus and recorded in Open Syllabus Project as teaching resources of World Top Rank Universities. The Library of Congress Classification was used to determine book subjects. The citations count of each book was exported from Scopus. PageRank and HITS algorithms were calculated by books citation networks using the Sci2Tool program. Findings: The results showed that there was a weak relationship among all three levels of teaching ranks with citation counts. Besides, The correlation between teaching ranks and PageRank were moderate and significant. Of the two ranking scores associated with the HITS algorithm, the correlations between teaching ranks and authority scores were significantly weak, but they were only significant at sub-classification levels with Hub scores. Furthermore, teaching ranks had a significantly moderate correlation with both PageRank and Authority scores in Social Sciences (H), Philosophy, Psychology, Religion (B), Politics (J), Law (K) and World History (D). Conclustion: Pagerank and authority scores of books calculated based upon the book citation network can be used in determining the teaching impact of books in some fields. Hence, this research suggests international citation indexes to utilize these indicators for books or to make the calculation of such indicators feasible for users. This is the first research conducted to examine the relationship between teaching rank of books with citation network indicators calculated by PageRank and HITS algorithms.
