Abstract:

Background & Aims: Globalization is accompanied by cultural diversity. Health care providers are witnessing the presence of different people with different cultures due to direct confrontation with patients and their clients and companions; therefore, it is necessary to try to reduce the misunderstandings between culture and destructive social interactions by creating appropriate intercultural contexts. Due to the fact that nurses have the most contact among all health care providers with individuals, this study was conducted with the aim of evaluating the effects of cultural intelligence in nursing. Materials & Methods: The design of the study is based on the integrated review method of Whittemore and Knafl. Between 2000 and 2020, various databases including SID, Irandoc, Google Scholar, PubMed, Medline, Scopus, Cochrane Library, and ScienceDirect were searched with keywords of cultural intelligence and nursing. Finally, 9 articles in this study were analyzed. Results: Data analysis revealed three main areas related to this issue: the dimensions of cultural intelligence, the stages of cultural intelligence development, and the benefits of cultural intelligence in nursing. Conclusions: Based on a review of the literatures, it can be said that nurses with higher cultural intelligence are more successful in establishing a cultural connection between themselves and their colleagues and clients. Therefore, they are at a higher level in all aspects of individual and organizational performance. So it can be said that one of the things that can help to achieve the growth and development of health systems is the cultural intelligence of nurses.

Abstract:

Background & Aims: Applying spiritual intelligence in the workplace can lead to improved communication skills and optimal clinical care. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of spiritual intelligence training on patient communication skills in nurses working in Imam Khomeini Hospital in Mahabad in 2019. Materials & Methods: The present study is an experimental study with a control group of pre-test-posttest that was conducted in 2019. The statistical population of this study is all nurses working in Imam Khomeini Hospital of Mahabad. At first, nurses were included in the study based on the inclusion criteria and 70 of them were randomly selected from each ward. Then, the participants in the study were divided into control and intervention groups based on random allocation. Demographic characteristics form and King Spiritual Intelligence Questionnaire were used to collect information. For the intervention group, 7 sessions of spiritual intelligence training were held in a workshop for 2 months. Immediately two weeks and one month after the intervention, both groups completed the questionnaire. No training was given to the control group. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 17 and descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: The results showed that the two groups were completely identical. Also, the results of Bonferroni multiple test showed that the mean scores of intelligence before the intervention in the two groups were not statistically significant (p = 0. 162). The mean score of spiritual intelligence in the intervention group before training was 54. 19± 48. 57 and it increased significantly (14. 12± 61. 80) two weeks after training. Multiple Bonferroni comparisons showed that there was no statistically significant difference in the mean scores of spiritual intelligence before and two weeks after training and in the follow-up phase among the nurses in the control group (p = 1. 000). However, in the intervention group, the mean scores of spiritual intelligence before and two weeks after training and in the follow-up stage were significantly different (p <0. 001). Conclusion: The findings of the study indicate the effect of education on nurses' spiritual intelligence. Since spiritual intelligence can affect all areas of nurses' work, it is better to use the findings to improve the quality of nursing care and increase patient satisfaction.

Abstract:

Background & Aims: Marital conflicts cause harm in the relationship between couples. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment based on the theory of communication framework to increase differentiation and reduce marital conflicts. Materials & Methods: The research project was semi-experimental with pre-test-post-test design and follow-up with the control group. The statistical population of this study included all couples referring to counseling centers in Kerman in 2019. Eighteen couples from counseling centers were selected as available as a sample, and couple therapy sessions based on communication framework theory were conducted in 8 60-minute sessions. But the control group did not intervene. The research tools included a differentiation questionnaire (Scorn and Friedlander, 1998) and marital conflict scale (Sanaei-Zaker, 2008). SPSS 23 software and covariance analysis test with repeated measurements and Bonfroni test were used for data analysis. Results: The results showed that communication-based therapy could increase discrimination and reduce marital conflict (P <0. 0001). Discussion & Conclusion: According to the obtained results, treatment based on communication framework theory can be used to increase differentiation and reduce marital conflicts. Therefore, therapists are recommended to use communication-based therapy to reduce couples' problems and increase marital adjustment.
