Abstract

 Background & Aims: The purpose of this study was to compare dysfunctional beliefs, knowledge and attitude in women with and without Sexual Interest/Arousal Disorder. Materials & Methods: This is a descriptive causal-comparative study. The study participants were 65 women with Sexual Interest/Arousal Disorder and 85 women without disorder who were selected from 344 women living in Rasht. Data were collected using the Sexual Interest and Desire Inventory-Female by Sills et al, Clinical Interview based on DSM-5 criteria, sexual dysfunctional beliefs questionnaire Nober et al, Sexual Knowledge and Attitude Scale Tulaiian et al and Goldberg General Health Questionnaire. Research data were also analyzed by multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA). Results: The results showed that Women with disorders, sexual conservatism beliefs, Sexual desire and pleasure as a sin more likely to and have less sex knowledge than the non-disordered group. But there was no difference between the two groups in masturbation beliefs, age, body image, affection primacy and sexual attitude. Conclusion: Based on these findings, difference between the type of beliefs and the lower level of sexual knowledge can play a role in causing Sexual Interest/Arousal Disorder. these findings are likely to have important implications for the prevention and treatment of female sexual disorders.
