seem that Ethnic and geographic factors are important elements. Cancer associated with mutation in tumor suppressor genes and oncogene. In addition to mutation, genetic polymorphisms are involved in incidence of cancer. The purpose of this investigation was studying polymorphism at codon 72 of p53 gene in patients with thyroid cancer in East Azerbaijan province.Material and Methods: In a case-control study 60 patients with thyroid cancer and 99 healthy individuals were studied as controls. After DNAs extraction from peripheral blood cells different genotypes of the 72th codon of p53 gene were determined by amplification refractory mutation system (ARMS) and presence of probable mutation, single strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP) technique was also conducted to confirm the results; Exon 4 of p53 gene was investigated by DNA sequencing. Results: In the control group, the genotype distribution of p53 polymorphism for Arg/Arg, Arg/Pro and Pro/Pro genotypes was 30.3%, 50.5% and 19.2% respectively. In the caner groups, the distribution was 31.67%, 51.67%, 16.67%, respectively for the same order of genotypes. Conclusion: This study indicates that polymorphism at codon 72 p53 gene is not a genetic predisposing factor for thyroid cancer in this population.

Backgrounds and Objectives: Heavy metals are toxic for human and animals and plants. For example nickel can cause contact dermatitis and may have carcinogenic effect. There are physicochemical and biological methods for removal of these elements from the environment. Some bacterial species are able to remove the elements by bioremediation mechanism. These types of bacteria could resist heavy metals and grow in the presence of these elements. In this research, the resistance of the nature of a heavy metal resistance bacteria’s that is bacteria’s living in Aran-Bidgol Lake has been evaluated.Materials and Methods: Seven Bacterial samples of the Lake were transferred on ventosa culture medium. Isolated colonies were grown on the media containing nickel transferred to mediums with other heavy metal elements. Biochemical and morphologic and also phylogenies studies based on sequencing of the 16S rDNA gene were performed in order to characterization genus and species of resistant isolates. Enzyme production of these bacteria’s was also investigated. Results: From 46 isolated halophilic bacteria, one isolate that was able to grow in the medium containing 1-25% NaCl and also was resistant to nickel and other toxic metal was considered for future study and characterization by sequencing of the 16S rDNA. This isolate had more 97% homology with Halomonas elongate species. Conclusion: Microorganism those are isolated from Aran-Bidgol Lake and are resistant to toxic metals have the potential usage for removal of environment toxins such as Nickel.

Background and Objectives: Interleukin-18 (IL-18) plays a key role in autoimmunity, inflammation and infection diseases and its higher levels are reported during the subclinical stage of type 1 diabetes mellitus. The aim of this study was to evaluate the recently described single-nucleotide-polymorphisms of promoter of IL-18 gene at position-137, in type 1 diabetic patients, which has been suggested to cause differences in transcription factor binding and IL-18 gene activity.Material and Methods: In this study, 104 type 1 diabetic patients (33female and 71 male) with mean age of 19.6±10.4 years, and 92 ages and sex matched, healthy individuals without family history of diabetes and autoimmune diseases were selected as controls. The single- nucleotide-polymorphism (SNP) at position-137 (G/C) in the promoter region of IL-18 gene was analyzed by sequence-specific PCR.Results: The genotype distribution differed significantly between patient and controls (p=0.038). The difference reflected as an increase in The GG genotypes at position-137 in promoter of IL-18 gene. Conclusion: The results of these studies suggest an association between type 1 diabetes and polymorphisms in the promoter region of IL-18.

Background and Objectives: Pneumonia severity assessment systems such as the pneumonia severity index (PSI) have been designed to help physicians to decide properly regarding the appropriate site of care in these patients. Along with such systems, serum inflammatory factors such as C-reactive protein (CRP) could be used for predicting the prognosis of patients with pneumonia. This study aimed to evaluate the correlation between on-admission quantitative CRP (qCRP) and PSI in hospitalized patients with pneumonia.Materials & Methods: During descriptive-analytical study, 60 hospitalized patients with pneumonia were evaluated in a 12-month period. On admission, risk stratification was performed based on the PSI system, and serum qCRP was measured. The correlation between on-admission qCRP and PSI was calculated. Mean values of qCRP was also compared between the expired and discharged patients. Results: 34 males (56.7%) and 26 females (43.3%) with a mean age of 65.03±17.47 years werestudied. Mean values of on-admission PSI and serum qCRP were 103.95±37.04 (range: 35-221) and 104.12±43.50 (range: 21-217) mg/L respectively. There was a significant positive correlation between on-admission serum qCRP and PSI(r=0.59, p<0.001). Mean serum qCRP was significantly higher in those who died compared with those who discharged (128.70±25.35 vs. 95.18±45.45 mg/L; p=0.01).Conclusion: Based on the results of current study, on-admission serum qCRP is well-correlated with PSI in hospitalized patients with pneumonia and, it can be used as a predicting marker of short-term prognosis.

In experimental group, similar protocol was implemented. Colorimetric chemical method was used for measuring MDA and PC factors. Repeated Measures ANOVA was used for statistical study. Results: The results showed that the plasma MDA levels exhibited a highly significant circadian rhythm in control (P=0.014) and experimental (p=0.008) groups. But, There weren’t a significant circadian rhythm for PC factor (P<0.05).Conclusion: The result of this study showed that there is a high risk of oxidative stress injuries in the morning and exercise can vary affect rhythm of oxidative stress.

Abstract:

ARC syndrome is an abbreviation of arthrogryposis, renal and cholestasis. It is a rare syndrome but needs awareness of physicians. During past 4 years two cases with direct hyperbilirubinemia, polyuria, ichtiosis and skeletal malformation have been diagnosed, both of them were term born from consanguine parents, and present their symptom and signs during the first month of birth. Their liver transaminase was mildly evaluated and one of them had proximal renal tubular acidosis and another one had combined proximal and distal renal tubular acidosis.ARC presents itself by prolonged neonatal icter, unilateral or bilateral arthrogryposis, and variable renal findings but polyuria, polydypsia and acidosis are constant renal findings of ARC.
