Abstract

Backgrounds and Objectives: PROPOLIS is a resinous substance collected by honeybees from buds and leaves of trees and plants; it then mixed with pollen and secreted enzymes by bees. This study was aimed to assessing the anti-fungal activity of Ethanol Extract of PROPOLIS in an experimental of CUTANEOUS candidial infection.Materials and Methods: In this study, twenty-four male RABBITs were studied. Animals were randomly divided into six equal groups: positive control group, negative control group, and four treated groups. The four test groups were which given different doses of EEP (125, 250, 500 and 1000 mg/ml) the positive control group received the standard Nystatin treatment and negative control group received only Topical Normal saline, in each groups local treatment was performed, two times a day for 20 days.Results: The results showed that EEP in its highest dose of 1000mg/ml was effective after 3 days of treatment in comparison. Clinical signs of CUTANEOUS CANDIDIASIS were healed in Nystatin group after 5 days.Conclusion: Ethanol Extract of PROPOLIS in concentration 1000mg/ml is an effective treatment for CANDIDA ALBICANS CUTANEOUS CANDIDIASIS. It could be a suitable alternate for renowned chemical drugs.
