This Study examined the effects of cognitive therapy, muscle Relaxation and cognitive therapy combined with muscle Relaxation on reducing essential hypertension in women (25-59 Years old). To this purpose sixty women who had blood pressure above 140 HHmg, randomly assigned to one of four conditions in dude, (1) cognitive therapy group, (2) relaxation training group, (3) combinational (the combination of cognitive therapy and relaxation training) group, and (4) control group. Treatments were done in 8 sessions. The blood pressure of subjects over tested by a blind nurse, before and after experimental period. The data were analyzed by one - way Anova and Scheffe Test. Results showed significant decrease in the blood pressure of experimental groups compaired to the control group
