Abstract:

This study was conducted since no such study had been carried out so far. Referral patients with symptoms of dyspepsia were confirmed to have PUD after endoscopy and divided into two groups of 50. Group A received 20 mg omeperazol orally before breakfast; group B received 150 mg Ranitidine orally twice a day, after breakfast and dinner. After two weeks, the clinical symptoms and rates of ulcer healing were confirmed by endoscopy. In group A, epigastric tenderness decreased from 32% to 4%, PV prevalence decreased from 30% to 14 % and PU prevalence decreased up to 60%. The results indicated that the efficacy of Omeperazol was significantly higher than that of ranitidine in the treatment of PU (P<0.05).

Abstract:

Evaluation of the effect of ethanol on mouse’s placental tissues and the abortion as the result of ethanol consumption were our objectives. Female and male Balb/c strain mice were selected for this study. Pregnancy occurred and 1 mg ethanol Per each gr maternal body weight was injected intraperitoneally to the pregnant mice every day. Every problem in the process of pregnancy in both experimental and control group was recorded. Placenta which were obtained after abortion or parturition from case and control groups were examined with microscopy. Abortion in experimental group was sharply higher than control group. Changes in the placental tissue were from 7th gestational day by light microscopy. These changes were progressively greater on later days. So on the final days of pregnancy or abortion, changes were very severe. Exaggerated proliferation of connective tissues around the blood vessels and complete disintegration of placental villous, were placental changes. By interpretation of these results, we concluded that ethanol may cause disintegration in the placental tissues and abnormal vascularization of villous. So possibly the circulation of placenta decreases and in some cases abortion will occur.

Abstract:

One of the most common heavy metal compounds is lead which has maleffects on different organs such as central and autonomous nervous systems and furthermore causes peripheral neuropathy. Lead can induce electroneurographic variations without clinical symptoms and signs. The aim of this study is determination of these variations in lead - exposed individuals. Fifty six workers who had chronic exposure to lead and no clinical symptoms and signs were assessed for blood lead concentration and motor and sensory nerve conduction velocities (M & S NCVs) and motor latency at upper limb nerves: ulnar, median and radial. The mean SNCVs of ulnar (50.83 m/s) and median (50.81 m/s) was significantly lower than those of control group (P<0.000). There were no significant differences between the two groups in other electroneurographic parameters. Also no correlation was found between blood concentration and electroneurographic findings. According to the results of this study, decrease of distal SNCVs of ulnar and median can be the first sign of lead effect on the peripheral nerves of upper limb in chronic state. Finally, we recommend using of these electroneurographic tests in individuals exposed to lead at the begining of employ ment for reference test and during employ ment for the evaluation of lead effects as well.

Abstract:

Secondary hyperparathyroidism and its effects on bone is among the most important complications of end - stage renal disease. In the present study, we investigated the correlation between the serum level parathormone (PTH) of hemodialysis men and women with calcium (ca), phosphorus (p) and alkalinephos phatase (ALK). We studied 30 chronic renal failure hemodialysis patients (16 Men and 14 women) aged 22- 66 years (average 44 years) with the duration of 5 months to 14 years (average 30 months) hemodialysis. We measured the serum Ca, P and ALK in intervals of 3 months and measured serum PTH levels in the third. Data analysis was performed with SPSS. Results showed that serum PTH and ALK were greater in women than men (90% versus 70%), but serum Ca and P were in the abnormality range, greater in men than in women (Ca: 8% versus 2%, P: 58% versus 50%). Correlation coeffeicient difference in PTH, Ca and P levels were statistically significant. Correlation was not observed between PTH, ALK and P in men, but with Ca level, there was a statistical significance for women, correlation coefficient was observed between PTH and ALK but not for Ca and P levels. Secondary hyperparathyroidism and its effects on bone were greater in women than men with hemodialysis.

Abstract:

Congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction is one of the most common causes of tearing in children. Course and management of this disease is controversial. Some physicians believe in medical treatment and others suggest the early probing operation. This study was conducted on 137 eyes affected with nasolacrimal duct obstruction. The affected children were assigned to receive antibiotics and massage before probing for two months. Then lacrimal duct probing was performed in these children. Success rate of probing was 74.1% in all patients. 94.4% in under six months old infants, 92% in under 12 months, 88.76% in under 18 months. This index was 51.7% in children over 18 months and 48.6% over 24 months. There was a significant correlation between decreased age and success rate of probing operation. This study showed negative correllation between the children age and success rate of probing operation. This rate in chidren under 12 months old was almost twice as the children over 24 months old. However, this operation is suitable for children under 12 months, if there has been no response to medical treatment.

Abstract:

Patients’ satisfaction is a dominant concept in medical care. Any organization providing a product or services is expected to receive feedback from it’s clients so as to determine the defects and design reformative measures. It is not only considered to enhance the patients’ commitments in following medical prescriptions; but also, it is regarded as one of the consequences of the system to achieve it. This cross- sectional study involved 914 patients hospitalized in different wards of Mobini, Embad, and 160-bed hospitals in Sabzevar; they were given a standardized questionnaire including open and closed questions on their satisfaction from the services provided for them. Data analysis was done through Spearman correlation coefficient and Mann Whitney-U tests. Results indicated that the highest correlation negatively existed between age and satisfaction from emergency and nursing staff. Women expressed higher satisfaction, than men, from emergency, nursing staff, reception, nutrition and clothing.

Abstract:

Surgical operation is a stressor which causes physiologic reaction in the body. Pulse, respiration and blood pressure increase as the result of body reaction; this increase may incur some risk . In this study, the effect of the Holy Quran recitation on the body physiologic reactions to stress is studied. This quasi - experimental study included 61 patients randomly assigned into two groups: control and experimental. The vital signs of the subjects were measured at 8: 00 and 9: 00 pm. before operation. The experimental group listened to Noor, Ma ‘edeh and Toubeh Quranic chapters two times (15 minutes each time) via headphones. The control group did not listen to Quran recitation. The findings indicated no significant difference between pulse, respiration and blood pressure in the first stage between the two groups. However, the difference between pulse and respiration in the second phase was significant. Also, a significant difference was observed between the first and second phase variations of blood pressure in the two groups. There fore , listening to Holy Quran recitation induces a reduction in the physiologic responses of the body to stress; hence, the researcher suggests it for the reduction of the body physiologic responses to stress.

Abstract:

With the attention to increasing diagnosis rate of nephritic syndrome and different reports of prevalence of infection in these patients and its complications and also to study the factors related to infection, this study was done on 100 children in the Ali - asghar hospital from 1374 to 1376. This cross - sectional study was done on children with Ns. The prevalence of infection was studied. Then between two groups with infection and without infection, the importance of age at the presentation time sex the levels of Bun, creatinin, total blood protein, serum albumin, cholesterol, triglycerid, Esr, wbc, Hb, the amount of 24 hours and the results of kidney biopsy was studied. This study was done in children from 50 days to 14 years. 39% of them were girls. The rate of infection was 39%. Pneumonia was the most common infection in the group with infection. Cholesterol was 373± 146 g/dl and in the infectious group, it was 456±171. Triglycerid was 335±195 mg/dl and 436±201 mg/dl, serum albumin was 0.85±2/55 and 2/61± 0/61 g/dl respectively. The rate of high echogenicity of kidney was significantly higher in the infectious group (P<0.0082). Other factors showed no significant difference between two groups. There was significantly lower serum albumin, higher cholesterol and triglycerid and high echogenicity in the infectious group. So we can conclude these factors are important risk factors as predisposing to infection in patients with NS.

Abstract:

Color deletion is still one of the main environmental problems in industrial waste water treatment and most methods used so far have not been very effective. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of H2O2, UV radiation and a. mixed system on color deletion from laboratory solutions and industrial waste water. In the UV system the solutions were exposed to UV radiation for different periods of time. In the Chemical system, 25 mg/l H2O2 was added to the solutions. In the mixed System, the solutions were added Various amounts of H2O2 and sewt to UV exposure unit. The findings revealed that blue and red colors reduced to less than 300 ADMI after 7 and 10 minutes UV exposure, respectively; while, green color had a higher resistance. The results indicated that the mixed system rendered the maximum reduction for the three colors in that adding 5, 12.5 and 25 mg/l H2O2 in to the solutions exposed to UV radiation brought about faster color reduction. Color deletion up to 300 ADMI without H2O2 addition needed a time span of over 10 minutes. One of the advantages of the mixed method is its speed in waste water treatment.

Abstract:

Holistic theory emphasizes the interaction of human’s dimensions. Illness, hospital environment, and diagnostic procedure cardiac catheterization are stressful experiences for patients and they may experience different stressors which are perceived by nurses. Accurate identification of stressors is very important. For a comparison of patient’s Undergoing cardiac chatheterization and nurse’s perception of physiologic, psychological, sociocultural and environmental stressors, this descriptive - Analytic study used a convenience sample of 100 patients undergoing cardiaocatheterization and 45 nurses who cared them at Mashhad university of medical Sciences. The instruments which used for data collection were demographic data and stressors scale (adapted from Cannelly, Heikkila and Volicer’s stressors Scales). The result indicated that there is statistically significant difference between patient’s and nurse"s perceptions of illness and hospital - related Stressors and according holistic approch, psychological (T=-4.10, P=0.000) sociocultural (T=-5.38, P=0.000) and environmental stressors (Z=-5.31, P=0.000). In general, nurses percived all of these stressors as more stressful for the patients than the patients themselves. Physiologic stressors were very important and more stresful. Nurses need to assess and accurately identify patients stressors and consequently on holistic apporch They can formulate a care plan individually preventing and reducing the stressors of these patients.
