School is an important educational Institution. It goes without saying that improving the conditions of schools needs active participation of parents.This article aims at exploring the obstacles in the way of parent participation in the education process, offering practical suggestions toward improving it. To fulfill the aim of study, a survey was conducted with special goal of exploring factors which influence parents' participation in educational process. The participants of the study consisted of 600 students parents (sample size) selected from among 204344 in the East Azarbaijan Province. They were parents of high school students in the academic year (2003-2004). In this survey, theories proposed by Vroom, Caplan etc, were used for explaining participation.The results of Multivariate regression analysis revealed that psychological factors were most influential on the rate of participation (Dependent variable). At a lower level, and in desceding order, structural factors, income, media factor and age proved to be infeleuetial.
