Abstract

The purpose of this article is to investigate the lived experience of teleworking among married employees during the outbreak of COVID-19from the perspective of worklife balance. This research is applied in terms of purpose and qualitative and phenomenological in terms of approach. The statistical population includes married male and female employees who have had teleworking experience in government offices in Tehran during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this statistical population, 14 employees were selected for research sample using the snowball technique. The data collection method was in-depth semi-structured interview and for data analysis, phenomenological content analysis technique was used to understand the lived experience of employees. Findings showed that teleworking during the COVID-19 pandemicreduced work-life conflict and improved the work-life balance for employees. The findings of the study indicate that male and female employees tend to accept teleworking, but infrastructure problems and the weakness of the teleworking culture and the resulting negative emotions have led to teleworking not being carried out properly. Therefore, the current experience of teleworking in the days of the COVID-19outbreak as a positive experience and a rich source of knowledge, can persuades the managersof public organizations to reconsider forcing all employees to be presentfull time at work and be more flexible in assigning working hours.
