Abstract

Background and Objectives Bureauphobia in the public sector doubts the direct effect of good services on people’, s trust. Addressing bureauphobia in public hospitals can be an attempt for increasing trust in the public sector, in addition to improving the health of the society. Therefore, the current study aims to survey bureauphobia in public hospitals of Qom Province in Iran. Methods A quantitative method was used in this study. A researcher-made questionnaire was used to survey bureauphobia. Logistic regression analysis was used to find the related factors. Results It was found that 24% of participants had bureauphobia. Age and gender had a positive significant relationship with bureauphobia. Employment in the public sector and citizenship had a negative significant relationship with bureauphobia. There was no significant relationship between educational level and bureauphobia. Conclusion The results of the research showed that increasing age has increased the attitude of bureaucracy-phobia among the clients of government hospitals. The attitude of bureaucracy-phobia is higher among male clients than among female clients. On the other hand, people working in other government sectors have less fear of bureaucracy than the staff of government hospitals. Also, clients from other countries (Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan) have less fear of bureaucracy than government hospital personnel. There is no relationship between education level and bureaucracy-phobia.
