Predicting Job Stress Based on Organizational Climate, Emotional Intelligence and Personality Types

Abstract

 Introduction: Research related to the field of psychology is of interest to many scientists in line with organizational productivity. Therefore, the purpose of this research was to predict job stress based on Organizational Climate, Emotional Intelligence and Personality Types. Methods: Descriptive-correlation research method and the statistical population of this research included all employees working in electricity departments of 22 districts of Greater Tehran in 2018. For this purpose, 13 regions were selected from among the employees of the 22 regions of Greater Tehran by random cluster method, and the total number of employees in these 13 regions was 316, all of whom were selected as samples. To collect data, HSE Occupational Stress questionnaire (1990), Halpin and Croft's (1963) Organizational Climate, Siberian Schering's Emotional Intelligence (1998), and Neo's personality type (2005) were used. Pearson correlation and SPSS-26 software were used for data analysis. Results: Organizational Climate had a direct (β, =0. 39) and significant effect on job stress (p<0. 01). Organizational Climate has a significant mediating role in the relationship between personality traits and job stress. Emotional Intelligence (β, =0. 08) has a direct and significant effect on reducing Occupational Stress (p=0. 049). The indirect effect of Emotional Intelligence through Organizational Climate on job stress is significant (p<0. 05). Conclusion: According to the obtained findings, it can be said that Personality Types and Emotional Intelligence have an effect on Occupational Stress through the mediation of Organizational Climate.
