Abstract

Backgrounds and Aim: Dyslexia is a disorder in which progress in reading skills accordingto age, education and intelligence is lower than expected. The aim of tis study was tocompare the effectiveness of the NEUROFEEDBACK and DAVIS TREATMENT METHODs on the readingperformance of DYSLEXIC STUDENTS. Material and Methods: The statistical population of this study included all male studentswith reading disability in the third grade of elementary school from Ahvaz learning disorderscenters number 3 and 4 in 2015-2016. The study sample consisted of 45 DYSLEXIC STUDENTSwho were selected by perpouseful sampling and randomely divided into three groups (twoexperimental group and one control group) that each one consisting of 15 individuals. TheReading and Dyslexia Test of Golpour, Chamarkoohy and Mohammadamini (2012) was usedto test reading skills. For evaluating the intelligence of the students, the fourth version of theWechsler Intelligence Scale for children (2003) was used. Data were analysed by SPSS-20and Analysis of Covariance. Results: The results showed that after using the DAVIS TREATMENT METHOD, there was asignificant difference between the intervention and control groups on the performance of thestudents in all reading components (P<0. 01). Also, the effectiveness of NEUROFEEDBACKresaulted a significant difference in the performance of the students in all the components ofreading in the intervention groups compared to the control group (P<0. 01). Conclusion: This study showed that both methods affected the reading performance of thestudents and the Davis treatment had a greater effect compared to the NEUROFEEDBACK method.
