Title

STUDY THE TRANSLATION OF THE NOVEL: THE LAST DAY OF A CONDEMNED MAN: SEMANTICALLY

Pages

  77-94

Abstract

One of the reasons that many translators feel unsatisfied at the end of the act of TRANSLATION, most probably is related to the difference of meaning in the source and target language. In the rhetoric field, the FIGURES OF SPEECH have an undeniable role in the amplification or attenuation of meaning. So we tried to decrypt these traces passing the source language to the target one. To illustrate the difference of meaning, we used a very valuable tool namely TENSIVE MODEL introduced by Claude Zilberberg and Jacques Fontanille and DISTORTING TRENDS of Berman concerning the linguistic aspect. Research result shows that failure to comply with rhetorical tricks in the TRANSLATION can alter simultaneously verbal and semantic context of the source text. In addition, it was found that some DISTORTING TRENDS are the consequences of the infringement of the speech figures. So the main objective of this research is to illustrate problems whose solutions can help translators to improve their TRANSLATION. Keywords: Traduction, Figures du Style, Tendances Déformantes, Intensité du Sens, Schéma Tensif
