Abstract

The relationship between specific personality characteristics and heart disease is one of the subjects that is being investigated in health psychology. In this regard the following research was designed to investigate the relationship between type – D personality that is susceptible to coronary heart disease and brain / behavioral system. it may enhance our understanding of the neurosphysiological mechanisms behind the D-traits.In this research 400 college students were selected and assessed by type – D personality and Gray- Wilson personality questionnaires.The results indicated that type – D personality significantly was associated with increasing activity of BEHAVIORAL INHIBITION SYSTEM in whole sample and in subjects with highest type- D personality, but type – D personality was not significantly associated with decreasing activity of BEHAVIORAL ACTIVATION SYSTEM in whole sample and in subjects with highest type – D personality.
