Abstract

Background and Objective: Hypertension (HTN) is a systemic disease that different agents affect its incidence. This study is designed to determine HTN correlation with the HEIGHT and WEIGHT of children.Subjects and Methods: This is a prospective analytic-descriptive epidemiological study in which the studied population were Ahvaz’s students aged 7-11 years old. Five thousand eight hundred eleven students (2904 male and 2907 female) were sampled by randomized systematic method. The WEIGHT, HEIGHT, systolic and diastolic BLOOD PRESSURE were statistically analyzed with pearson and regular regression.Results: The minimum of systolic BLOOD PRESSURE was 57.5 mmHg, maximum was 125 mmHg. The mean BLOOD PRESSURE was 101.41±8.97 mmHg. The minimum of diastolic BLOOD PRESSURE was 44.5 mmHg, maximum was 85 mmHg and mean was 62.51±6.55 mmHg. Also, the correlation between systolic and diastolic BLOOD PRESSURE with HEIGHT and WEIGHT was significant.Conclusion: This study showed that several factors affecting BLOOD PRESSURE in children, particularly diastolic BLOOD PRESSURE, which most important of them including age, HEIGHT and WEIGHT.
