Abstract

PARTICIPATION is associated with human's inherent freedom to choose his collective destiny. In Islamic thought, however, collective PARTICIPATION receives a special meaning and concept which is both similar to and different from its species. This article investigates theoretical foundations of PARTICIPATION in the frameworks of Islamic political thought. Having brought up meanings of PARTICIPATION and its species, this article investigates pre-requisites of PARTICIPATION. Then, it explains position and scope of PARTICIPATION from Islamic perspective. Finally it explores foundations of PARTICIPATION in Islam from religious texts and explains them in three fields: QURANic, theological and jurisprudential.
