Abstract

Hakim ‘Umar Khayy am-i Nishabouri is one of the outstanding characters of Persian literature whose works have given pleasure to both Iranians and non-Iranians. His ruba‘iyyat (quatrains) and some of his academic treatises have been rendered into Russian and some other languages. The republication of his ruba‘iyyat in numerous copies in Russia reveals the Russians’ love for Kh ayy a m and his noble ideas.By referring to some library sources, the author gives a short history of what Russian Iranologists have done regarding Khayy am’s works. She also mentions how Khayy am was introduced to Europe and how the Russians were motivated by his poems to compose beautiful songs.
