Abstract

This research aims to describe and analyze the current situation of Methodology in entrepreneurial opportunity studies published in leading journals. Our study method’ s goal is an applied research and in terms of it data collection uses qualitative content analysis. For selecting the articles we searched in ABI/INFORM database. The initial search resulted in 470 articles which finally we selected 191 articles published between 1989 and 2017 in leading entrepreneurship journals. Our findings suggest that there is an improvement in reporting reliability and validity in reviewed articles. The majority of articles had micro, level of analysis and surveys were dominant among data collection tools and most of the reviewed articles were cross-sectional and a low percentage of studies conducted longitudinal research. Survey studies were the most prevalent type of studies and the number of experimental and pseudo experimental studies is low.
