Title

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SOCIAL IDENTITY AND WOMEN'S SENSE OF SECURITY IN TEHRAN

Abstract

 Background and aim: Identity is a dynamic, and an alive phenomenon with different parts which is made of individuals` involvement in groups. In fact, these identities are some parts of the whole identity of that individual. SOCIAL IDENTITY is a crucial part of the individual`s identity which has various dimensions. SOCIAL IDENTITY is a vital need of human beings, without it free activity is restricted. The sense of social security is constructed through different factors which SOCIAL IDENTITY is among those factors. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between SOCIAL IDENTITY (independent variable) with a sense of security (as dependent variable) in women.Method: The research method is survey. The present paper by using SOCIAL IDENTITY theory and the study of security research, and finally by using the ideas of Anthony Giddens and Richard Jenkins, developed a theoretical framework for the study. In this study, data collected via question are from a sample of 300 women aged 18 to 65 in Tehran who was selected through a multistage cluster sampling.Findings: The results showed a 24% correlation and meaningful relationship between SOCIAL IDENTITY and sense of security.Conclusion: The variables of individual identity and FUNDAMENTAL TRUST and have the greatest effect on the dependent variable, i.e. sense of security, the variable of range of SOCIAL RELATIONSHIPS due to a very low correlation, revealed the lowest relationship with the sense of security.
