Abstract

Two verses (known as Niirayn and Wilayat) concerns Imam Alis virtues. Both of them, which are weak and erroneous, have been forged. No evidence regarding the text of these verses or the name of their author can be found before the eleventh century. According to historical accounts and to the content of theses verses, it is clear that they have been forged and spread at that time in India. The only shii source, that mentions these twoverses is the Ta4.kiraal-aimma, a book compiled in the 12th century, but his author did not quote any of his sources. Therefore, the assertion claimed by some Orientalists and Salafists scholars that, according to the Shii, these two verses once had belonged to some parts of the Imam Alis Quran, is totally baseless.
