Abstract

Introduction: EPILEPSY is a common chronic neurological disorder that affecting more than 40 million people worldwide. One of the reasons the disease caused by traumatic head injuries. Some of our nation’s VETERANS during the Iraqi imposed war against Iran, dealing with head trauma after being diagnosed with EPILEPSY.Purpose: IED of the VETERANS and other patients with EPILEPSY and the factors affecting the IED.Material and Methods: Data recorded from male patients with EPILEPSY referred to Shafa Neuroscience Center between 2007 and 2011. The reason for referring patients is diagnosis of EPILEPSY and evaluation before surgery. All patients participating in this study have been under the V-EEG.Result: POISSON REGRESSION was used to analyze data. The results indicate that all included covariates, VETERANS status, seizure type, seizure occurrence and duration of EPILEPSY, had significant effect on IED (P<0.01).Discussion and Conclusion: Number of IEDs for VETERANS is approximately 1.7 times IEDs of other patient.
