STANDARDIZATION OF MINNESOTA FACTOR ATTITUDE INVENTORY ON GUIDANCE HIGH SCHOOLS IN TEHRAN

Abstract

 Due to the importance of TEACHERs’ role in educating the future generation, developing suitable and valid instruments to select the best and efficient TEACHERs seems very important. The main instrument of this study was the ATTITUDE-assessment questionnaire of Minnesota TEACHERs to achieve the desired goal. The statistical population of the study was composed of male and female TEACHERs in guidance schools in Tehran. A number of 415 female and male TEACHERs from the 19 districts of Tehran were randomly selected through a cluster sampling in order to find the norms of the questionnaires. The difference in women and men's ATTITUDEs, considering their marital status, age, teaching experience, were also examined. The results, which were obtained by using SPSS showed that the reliability coefficient was 0.89. Content and construct validity were also computed through factor analysis. There was no meaningful difference among single and married TEACHERs’ ATTITUDE. Also Job experience and the age level of the TEACHERs did not have a meaningful impact on their ATTITUDEs. Therefore, two components were the final results of this research: first component was TEACHERs’ ATTITUDE towards STUDENTs, and the second one, TEACHERs’ ATTITUDE towards their profession. It was found that the content of the inventory used in this study is satisfactory for sampling TEACHERs’ ATTITUDE.
