Abstract

Background & Objectives: Nowadays evidence based practice plays a major role in cure and care. Nursing is not exempted from it and few studies were carried out in this field. This paper studies application of evidence based nursing care principle in older patients with urinary incontinence.Materials & Methods: This study is a quasi-experimental design (pre-post test).30 ones were selected by simple sampling methods for 2 experimental and control groups. Allocation of samples to groups was non-random. Nursing interventions were based on the review of literature in the similar studies on urinary incontinence. Intervention in experimental group was included kegel exercise, bladder training and life style modification and the control group received routine drug therapy. The urinary incontinence condition was evaluated after three months. Results: The assessment of the frequency and amount of incontinence leakage and its effect on life quality showed significant differences between experimental and control groups before and after intervention. Conclusion: The results of study showed that the evidence based nursing care are effective method in senile WOMEN with urinary incontinence. The results of this study and the same studies imply that a national clinical guideline should be developed in this field.
