Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to study the social and cultural factors that influence on youth's SOCIAL TRUST in Mazandaran province. The theoretical framework is based on social system theory in the form of action (T.Parsons) and the structure-agency of Anthony Giddens. The population is 20 to 29 years old of Sari and Babol. 280 people were selected as the sample size. Sampling method is multi-stage and systematic random. The search method is survey.Seven hypotheses have been studied and the following results were obtained:Education level and social class have negatively and inversely related to SOCIAL TRUST. HUMAN COMMUNICATION, family's SOCIALIZATION and religious beliefs have a direct or positive relationship with SOCIAL TRUST. Sum of these variables explained 43.2% of SOCIAL TRUST changes. Variables of HUMAN COMMUNICATION and family's SOCIALIZATION have the greatest effect on youth SOCIAL TRUST. Results indicate that the basic trust among the youth is more than other forms of trust (generalized trust and abstract trust). Also TRUST WITHIN A GROUP is more considered rather than outside the group.
