Abstract

The purpose of this study is a comparative analysis of NARRATIVE POSITIONs and the PLOT elements of “The Rabbit and Lion” from the Masnavi-I Ma'navi and “The Clever Rabbit and the Fierce Lion” from Sweet Tales from the Masnavi-I Ma'navi by Jafar Ebrahimi (Shahed). “The Clever rabbit and the Fierce lion” is a retelling of the original tale in the Masnavi-I Ma'navi. We believe that while there is an approximate similarity between these two narrative stories, they do not induce the same signification. Why has there occurred a difference between the PLOTs of these two tales? To solve this fundamental problem, we should study the creation of signification in these two tales. To do so, we will compare firstly their NARRATIVE POSITIONs and secondly, their narrative PLOTs. The purpose of this comparison is revealed in this question: is the change in the PLOT the reason for the creation of new significance or is there another reason for this change? What is that reason?
