Abstract

This study has examined the effect of STRUCTURAL FAMILY THERAPY through Group Methods in Reducing MARITAL CONFLICTS among Couples Referred to Council for Disagreement Solution (CDS) in Baghmalek. The sample included 30 couples who were randomly selected from among the volunteers referred to Council for Disagreement Solution (CDS) and whose scores were one standard deviation above the mean. They were assigned to experiment and control groups. The participants were married for at least two years and had children. In this study, the STRUCTURAL FAMILY THERAPY was considered to be the independent variable and marital conflict as dependent variable. First, both experimental and control group took part in a pretest. Then during 10 sessions experimental groups were instructed and then the posttest was administered. After about 5 weeks, the follow up test was given. The instrument in this study was Marital Conflict Questionnaire (MCQ). The results derived from multivariate analysis of covariance showed that STRUCTURAL FAMILY THERAPY reduces the MARITAL CONFLICTS among couples in experimental group comparing to control group. Level of significance in this study was p<0.001.
