Abstract

Today, many DEVELOPMENT planners and policy makers, mention tourism as the main pillars of sustainable DEVELOPMENT. GEOTOURISM is one of the specialized nature tourism. One of the prone areas on GEOTOURISM in Iran is East Azarbaijan province. JULFA region in North West of East Azarbaijan province is the case study for this paper. As one of the richest areas in terms of tourist attractions, JULFA has suitable places for tourism planning based on the GEOTOURISM. The purpose of this study is to develop of employment opportunities in the field of GEOTOURISM in JULFA region. This study is based on a descriptive survey. Statistical population of this study was 100 people and the data collection was based on interviews, observation and questionnaires. Cronbach's alpha approach and the validity of the views of scholars and professors have been used for reliability of the questionnaires. Data analysis was performed by using SPSS software and The Friedman nonparametric test has been used for testing and prioritization of variables. The results show that the tendency to create new opportunities besides existing natural opportunities would cause increase and enhance on employment opportunities in the region.
