Title

CORROLATION OF WAIST TO HIP RATIO WITH HYPERTENSION AND SERUM LIPIDS IN ADULT WOMEN IN RAFSANJAN CITY

Pages

  51-55

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine relationship between WAIST TO HIP RATIO (WHR) with serum lipids and BLOOD PRESSURE. This was a cross sectional study. Sample study contained 62 women aged 25-40 years who worked in the hospital of Ali ibn Abitaleb in Rafsanjan. This group was assessed using an interview and blood lipids and BLOOD PRESSURE measurement. A tape was used to measure waist and hip circumference and height. BLOOD PRESSURE was determined with a mercury manometer. Serum CHOLESTEROL, triglyceride, and HDL were measured with autoanalyzer and calculated with formula of LDL=HDL TG/2.2 According to the results, no significant relationship was observed between WHR with serum lipids and BLOOD PRESSURE. While it showed statistically significant relationship between WHR and weight (P<0.001). It seems lack of statistical significant relationship between WHR with lipids and BLOOD PRESSURE was due to use healthy and age of samples. From these finding it can be concluded that the relationship between WHR and the studied variables is significant when the studied individuals are older or have other diseases. Further studies oare required to clarify this relationship in the healthy samples.
